    find the source first.
it can be something simple a loose or bad fan belt.
or sometimes very bad. like brake failures. These
symptoms can be very dangerous, get expert hands on help any time there is unusual noises. I'm sure.

SOURCE: had oil changed at first service as light was

Okay in your owners manual look up oil service light and it will give you a few steps on how to reset it this has to be done every time you change the oil and most mechanics should know how to do it except wal mart their not certified mechanics. But you can take it to any mechanic or say like a Jiffy Lube or who ever doe's oil changes like these guys and have then help you reset the light but it should tell you in the owners manual.

no year, stated, kinda hopeless that. no?
both lamps dead>?
welcome to the USA forum. that has no wagon R+
the car is one of the most sold world wide, (vast)
but not one here, sorry , no books , no ANYTHING.
but the REV lamps work kind of the same.
the Rev backup switch in the transmission sends this signal
to the rear lamps.
did you check fuses first?
check for shorted lamps next?
then check that switch. (reverse back up switch in trans)

My 2004 honda pilot heater is making a screeching noise. i had my honda dealer replace the heater - but is it is still making the noise and it is getting worse

find source of noise, rule 1, , or waste lots of time and cash guessing. find it.
use a stethoscope, for $5 at harbor fright (pun) or an auto store.
find the true source.
or ask any ASE mech, to find it. he/she WILL!
and stay away from stealerships unless, Bill Gates. Or Buffet.
note how he already failed you, he should cry in shame.

Screeching noise when I turn on my air conditioner or heater

It may just need to be adjusted (it sounds like it's too loose). If the belt isn't cracked or frayed, you should just have it tightened up a bit . If there are signs it is worn (cracked frayed) replace it.
