2006 Honda CRV makes screeching sound while turning corners

While turning corners or curves (w/o applying brakes), Honda CRV makes a screeching sound (not the tires). The sound was faint at first but is getting louder every day. If I apply the brakes, the sound stops. I was told that the next time I had the oil changed that I would probably need new brakes. The brakes do not make the grinding noise that I usually associate with the need for new brakes. The car has a little over 80,000 miles. Thanks.

Sounds like you have a little air in your power steering, need to bleed the air out. You can do this by turning your steering wheel all the way to the right and then all the way to the left, repeatedly until noise stops, also check your power steering fluid.

Built into the brake pads is a small bit of metal that when the pads get to low to be safe , runs on the rotor and produces the squeal applying the brakes stops the vibration so the noise drops off

SOURCE: 2006 Honda Odyssey brake problems

Sounds like there is a problem with these vehicles and that Honda are aware of it, and at least some dealerships are being honest about it. Check out the forum on fixya from other Odyssey owners here.
Sorry I can't be of more help, but I can only suggest you go back to the dealership and quote this "Honda Tech Line Summary Article",
#ATS050707..."Grinding, Growling Noise from the Front Brakes - A grinding,
growling noise when applying moderate to hard pedal pressure at low speeds
is caused by the brake pad friction material. An improved material will
be announced in a forthcoming Service Bulletin."
Ask them if there has been a fix developed for this problem yet.

Hope this helps,
Mark.

SOURCE: I have a 2008 Honda LXP purchased Novemebr 2008.

from my experience its sounds like ur front rotors may need resurfaceing...if ur doing that...may as well replace the brakes on the front as well...sometimes glazed front brake pads may make a sound but never heard of it as a grind, usually its a squeal...have ur dealer check ur rotors for hot spots in which u would need them replaced if they are overheated..also check the front pads for cracked brake pad material

SOURCE: honda crv servo problems

if the brake pedal is very hard with little braking effect you have either a faulty servo or a leak in the vacume pipe to the servo ,,,, if its a diesel the vacume pump could be faulty also ,,,,, if pipework is ok carefully plug out the pipe from the servo there should be vacume in the pipe with the engine running,,, on a petrol this will effect the engine speed as you are introducing a air leak into the enginebut will do no harm ,,, if you have vacume in the pipe its the servo thats faulty if you have no vacume inspect the pipework back towards the engine to either find a leak or faulty vacume pump

How do i adjust the hand brake cable n a 2006

You have rear disc brakes and the rotors act like drums, with e-brake shoes inside. you would need to remove the calipers and rotors to access the star wheel to tighten up the e-brake.

Making sound when the wheel turns sharp slowly....

check your power steering fluid level if it's low refill it and see if you still hear the noise then take it to honda and have them find and repair the leak. the brakes are screeching like that cuz you may have had to make a quick stop in the past and it glazed the pads by over heating them, it should go away but if you are concerned you can always get a brake inspection
