Turn system off and use a paper clip to manually open the drive door. Straighten a paper clip, then insert it in the small opening to the right of the eject button. This should manually open the door and you can remove any disks in the drive. Then reboot and see if it will open and close normally.

SOURCE: dell xps m1330 dvd drive will not eject cd inside

Im a dell tech, and i hate those cdrom styles, but, that is what the consumer wants, so we make them. Try starting the machine, then press F2 to enter the BIOS. once in the bios, press the eject button. listen for any noises, (an attempt to eject). if you hear a sound, it means the drive should be capable of ejecting the disc, and perhaps the disc has not seated correctly. If the disc will not eject, you must contact Dell. This is from the DELL dcse site: " Optical Drive The XPS M1330 has a slot-loading optical drive instead of a conventional tray-loading module. There is no mechanical eject mechanism for the drive to eject stuck discs. This means you must replace the drive if a disc gets stuck in the drive. After replacing the drive, disassemble the old drive to remove the disc for the customer."

Dell cd drive door won't open

CD/DVD Drive Tray problems
There are two ways to open the CD/DVD drive door if the button just below the drive tray does not work.
Go to My Computer and right click on the drive and click on Eject.
If this does not work then you can manually open the CD/DVD drive tray by -
Straighten a paper clip and gently insert it into a tiny hole below the drive tray next to the Eject button. Push the paper clip gently until the drive tray pops out, then pull the tray until it is fully out, then you can remove the CD/DVD disc.
If you still having problem opening with the Eject button, then the CD/DVD drive is faulty and needs replacing.

CD or DVD does not stay in slot. Computer ejects it without reading.

The Dell™ XPS One™ A2010 system features an enhanced one-time boot menu that is easily accessible by pressing at the Dell™ logo during POST. The options in the boot menu are:
  • SATA:3M-WDC WD2500AAJS-75RYA0
  • CD.DVD:3S-TEAC DVD+/-RW DVW28
  • Network:IBA GE Slot 00C8 v1250
  • Dell Diagnostic Partition
Try to boot from a boot-able CD such as the Dell Resource CD. If it still ejects the CD then your CD/DVD drive needs to be replaced.

Problem with the Dell XPS One All-in-One the DVD/CD drive is making noises like it is trying to eject a disc, but there is not a disc in the slot, it tries to eject every 1.5 seconds

See if you can boot from a CD disk by pressing the key and then selecting boot from DVD/CD drive.
You should have a CD that came with the computer which has "Diagnostics and Utilities" listed
under "Contents".
If the computer boots with the CD and the CD disk is not being accessed and before, you have a
software issue.

CD Drive not Recognized / Wont Eject CD

There is a small pinhole in the face of the dvd drive. Use a paperclip to poke into the hole. It will force an eject of the dvd drive. You can also explore the computer, right mouse click on the drive letter of the dvd drive, choose "eject"....
If it still will not eject, unplug the ribbon cable from the drive but keep the power plugged in, then press the eject button. If worse comes to worse, four small screws, and you can remove the shell of the drive exposing the dvd inside....
Good luck!!!!

Problem w/ dvd drive in dell xps 1530

The drive may be damaged but to eject the cd manually turn off the power and there is a small hole around the face of the drive. You can use a straightened paperclip to push in the hole and it should eject the cd. Let me know if you have any questions.

Dell XPS 1300 Cd rom problem

This is a CD drive mechanical problem. All CD/DVD drives have built in error checking for mechanical failures. When you insert the CD/DVD, it tries to grab and seat the disc, then attempts to spin it up and then read it. If the grab and seat function fails for any reason, the drive will eject the tray so you can try again. You should contact Dell support and get the drive replaced. Has the drive ever worked? or did it just stop working one day?
