Computer won't read lyra opal mp3, and now it won't turn on..

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto yourcomputer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3player.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player willcreate a MP3 music file for each music track.

Log onto the RCA website and download the RCA SMV Video Converter. The Opal only plays videos that are in one specific format. This converter will put your videos into that exact format (see Resources below).

Install the RCA SMV Video Converter once you have downloaded the software.

Open the RCA SMV Video Converter software to begin putting videos onto your RCA Opal.

Connect the RCA Opal to your computer using the USB chord that came with the device.

Wait until the RCA SMV Video Converter software reads that the device has been connected. You will know this when the bottom of the software screen reads “Player Detected: Opal 1GB 2GB.”

Select the “Browse” option to find any videos that are on your computer which you wish to add to the RCA Opal.

Click the box next to “Transfer output files to OPAL 1GB 2GB after conversion is complete” after you have selected all of the videos which you wish to convert. This will automatically add the videos to your RCA Opal after they have been converted.

Click the “Convert” box after you have selected all of the videos. The videos will automatically begin to convert to the correct format. Once they have been converted, your videos will automatically upload to your RCA Opal.

Do you have Limewire? If you do then click on the start button on your computer, click on music then plug in your mp3, then when you plug it in something will come up and say Auto Play click on that after that click on "OPEN FOLDER TO VIEW FILES" when you click that something will show up click on music then, click on the music you have on the computer which is saved then drag the music you want to put on it and that's it thta's how i do it?I hope i helped you!!!!!

i have the same problem i put songs on, but then it like deletes them.

Hi, you can try to upgrade the player's firmware, you can download it from the RCA Website (http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/downloads.aspx?product=187), the firmware it's the second app listed.
If your computer doesn't recognize the player, you'll have to turn it off and keep "PLAY" pressed for 10 seconds while connecting it to the USB port, then update the firmware.

To download pictures go into the program on your computer that holds your pictures and make sure you have your mp3 player hooked up. All you have to do is right click on the photo that you want to put onto your MP3 once you right click select the option send to and choose your f: file (on my computer that is the file that my mp3 shows under) then just select that file (f file on my computer and click on that file. Your pictures will be tranfsfered to your MP3 Player. Hope this help you out!

i have 1 just like yours and i download whatever i want to put onto it 2 my computer then when i plug in my player i go 2 my computer and pull the player up and open it and copy and paste what i downloaded to the computer over 2 the player

When RCA first came out with the Lyra series the only way to get music onto the device was by using musicmatch jukebox that would convert your mp3 file to mpy before downloading it to the device. But now RCA has come out with a new firm ware update for these mp3 players that improved the players playback quality plus enabled it to use .WMA files. so first go to RCA support http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/select.aspx?u=downloads and find your player and download the firmware and drivers (if needed) upgrade and install to your player its very easy and instructions are at the same site. You can now convert your music to .wma or use the free Real player that will convert mp3 to wma at the kbps that you request before loading it on. If your music is all ready in wma format you can use windows media player to send the files to your player. One last thing the .wma files that you put on your Lyra player need to be at least 128kbps or higher enhanced playback quality of wma files (160 kbps to 256 kbps).
