No. The Opal is a PnP player so just drag your mp3s into the media file.

I lost the disk to my RCA Opal and I am wondering if I can still download music from i tunes. Is their free downloads that would help me with this problem?

You can only put non-DRM iTunes music on your Opal (.m4a I think is the extension unprotected music, so if your music has this extension you sould be ok)

There is no important disk that comes with the RCA Opal. You can run the easyRip installer and during the install it will prompt you whether you want to "import" media from iTunes to easyRip (all this process really does is map to it, not copy it) and any media that gets imported by easyRip can be transferred to your player using easyRip's Player Loader module.

You can download easyRip from the RCA site here:

DOWNLOADING MUSIC

I think I might have a solution. If you haven't dragged the music to the file MUSIC, that may be your problem. OR you need to upgrade your itunes. Hope this helps your problem!

Will not download songs

i had the same problem. and the answer made me so mad. turns out, you have to have yahoo unlimited TO GO in order to transfer the songs. i found this out after not only suscribing to y! unlimited but also downloading 400 songs! ugh. i still haven't found any service that works with it, and i've been searching all day.

WWON'T POWER ON

For one, you don't need the CD to put music on the Opal. It's a plug and play device. Go to My Computer on your desktop and you will see under Audio Devices "OPAL". Click on that and you'll see a folder called "Media" and that's where you put your music.

For not turning on, click Pause/Play twice

For charging, You need to plug in the USB cord into the computer to charge it. Wait 3 hours. The Opal doesn't have a real long battery life, i'd say around 10-15 hours. So you'll be needing to charge it quite a bit.
