26.960-27.410 MHz
This Radio Standards Specification (RSS) sets out general requirements for, and provides information on, the certification of radio apparatus that is used for the general radio service, also known as the citizens band (CB), operating in the 26.960-27.410 MHz frequency band.
I have CX-4600-T too. Mine gets way hot as well, I had a mod kit installed n it swings 215W peak power now. But the excessive heat is annoying, I think mine does have a fan in it though cause I know I felt air coming out the back before.
Astaic 36L. You never want to run a power Mike with a good radio with Mic Gain. Road King is great to. It is very hard to find the honey spot with a power Mike when you have Mike gain on radio.I think it is pretty hard to beat the 36L. I use one one my Connex 4600 Turbo and Galaxy 95T2, They both performe great. Connex is a little better a DX ing though
If mic is ruled out (broken connections etc) likely a cap in the audio circuit has opened--this happens a lot when a radio is stored for a long period of time.
Going to need a schematic and a meter to test the caps in the audio circuit--could also be a bad audio chip or connections at it.
The Connex 4600 Turbo is a very sensitive radio these radios don't work good at all with the stock microphone! The best microphones are the RK-56 and or the Astatic 636L which most people use and you shouldn't get any squeal. And make sure if that you are using an external speaker get it as far away from the radio as you can facing away from the radio so it wont feedback. As far as a Mod kit there are several ways to modify the radio which most are pretty hard and drawn out. but the most easy that used to be used is as simple as a diode placement in the right place which is old school but still works good. You must be very careful as if you are to slightly touch the wrong points the radio could be destroyed and no longer work so caution is to be taken if you don't know what you are doing please don't try it on an expensive radio!! If you want more info on the mod e-mail me
never the less a Modulation kit or modification wont help your Receive it will only help your Transmit signal!!
i have the same radio turn talk back off and there is enough power ull have talk back through you trucks radio speakers and it needs to be hooked up to the battery with at least 12ga wire
On most mobile communications equipment, it is best that: 1. the power leads are directly wired to the battery terminals; 2. the bracket and radio body are grounded to the chassis of the vehicle; 3. a braided grounding strip be used in addition to the negative power lead; and/or 4. a gutter or trunk lip mounted antenna be used rather than magnetic. Antennas are better made of metal rod (not fiberglass) such as those made by Daiwa, Maldol, Oscar, Hokushin and others. The mount itself should use high quality RG58 coaxial cable such as those by Belden and others.
Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.
