I have a 1995 BMW 325i convertable with an electrical problem.

The top will not go up or down. It worked for awhile, but yesterday when I was trying to lowere the top the electrical motor quit. There appears to be two wires running into the fuse box under the hood for this purpose. I do not have a tech manual covering the electrical system so I don't know if these wires are factory or something that was added. I just purchased this vehicle a few days ago from a private owner.

Sounds like the sensor has faulted or the pump has become disengaged. Usually when the light is flashing it's a sensor. You can check for a pinched line or low fluid also. There is a manual lock overide procedure to get the windows up, it's in you owners manual.
Good luck...i hope this helps,

Bmw 1995 325i

It's unkiely that all the door actuators are bad. The problem sounds like a voltage loss to the circuit. Check the fuses for the door locks.

I have a 2003 bmw 325i convertible. I was closing the top and as it neared 80% closed it just stopped. I've tried trying to put it down, up - restarted car; checked truck. nothing help!

I would be checking for failed electrical items such as a separate fuse for the drive mechanism and the relay that controls the motor. Check your owner's manual to locate the correct fuse and relay or possibly the inside of the cover over the the fuse block; the key for each fused circuit should be found there.

1994 Convertible roof not working

If you hear a whining noise, you are probably low on fluid.
The pump/motor/reservoir combination is probably behind the rear seat.
Fill it with ATF with the top down. Cycle the top as much as possible, repeat till the reservoir accepts no more fluid in the down position.
Check lines and cylinders for leaks, replace/repair leaks.
If you hear nothing, check the fuse.
If that is good, hotwire the motor, if that works, check the switch.
