Red and green strips and a black half (left) screen
I have a 42" LG plasma TV (DU-42PY10X) (4 years old). The problem was 2 red vertical lines (strips about 1" each) and 1 green line on the right side from the front side view. A repairman from an authorized repair center changed one of PCB assembly (Part # 6871QLH037A, it?s left from the backside), however, there was no change. He determined that my problem is the panel. Five months later, all the left (from the front side) half screen turned black. The following site suggests a good solution to fix red strips, however, can it solve the half black screen? http://greenrenovation.wordpress.com/du-42px12x-red-stripe-repair/

Line, faults & possible causes to LCD screen are given with illustrations. You can get an idea about the fault to an extent.
Hi I have a LG RZ42px11 there are 6 vertical thick black lines running down the middle off the screen, when cold the TV seems OK but if it has been on for around 10mins or on standby the lines stay on screen.
you have a problem with your "buffer" boards inside your tv. there are several different ( 4 or 5 ) ones inside. it may also be your controller board, only a tv service technician will be able to answer this question after a look see
This can be on the matrix drive board, or the display assembly itself. It is possible to also have a defect in the address decoding area that will cause this.
The procedure is to swap out the suspect boards to determine where the fault is, leave the working boards in the set, and then follow up any necessary calibrations that are necessary.

I had recently noticed the same thing happening with mine. Then the left
half of the screen turned black and has various red, green, and blue
vertical lines. The right half of the screen shows has the picture
just fine. It's exactly right down the middle of the screen.
