Hi, If the ignitor glows but the flame doesn't ignite, you will need to change ths coils on the top of the gas valve. If you would get me the model #, I can help you though this.

Thanks
Vic

What would make our Rinnia Glo0Ray gas heater stop lighting?

Problem could be the thermocouple burnt out .FSD
(fail safe device) normally you push the button in and the pilot light or flame is ignited, this flame heats the thermocouple that generates a small voltage that holds the gas valve open.
if the thermocouple is burnt out or not set correctly in the flame or the pilot flame is to small , as you say when you release the button it goes out, looks like you need a new thermocouple.
The fan needs electricity. Is it pugged in or connected to a power source? No blown fuses? On/off switch on? Hope that helps.

Mmonessen MODEL DIS33N PILOT WILL NOT STAY LITE

Is the flame [when lit] in contact with the thermocouple? Does the flame hit the thermal couple and climb it? How long do you attempt to heat it up before allowing it to run on its own?

If the flame is correct placement, color, and contact with the thermocouple and you've attempted to light it and had it running manually for 30 secs or more ... you may need a new thermocouple and/or pilot assembly. If unsure, have a certified technician come out and examine it for you.

Where is a flame sensor located on a laars lg millivolt pool heater

first of all millivolt heaters dont have an actual flame sensor. flame rods are located in the electronic ignition models. The only "flame sensor" millivolt units have are the pilot generator or thermal pile. it also works as a safety, no pilot flame = no dc current, heater wont run

I cant get my HRC200 gas fireplace logs to light.

the pilot flame must heat a thermal couple that develops a small voltage to open the gas valve. make sure the pilot flame is in contact with the thermocouple and hold the pilot start gas button on for at least 1 min befor turning it to the run position

The pilot light will not remain on I have a Firestar free standing heating stove

You probably have a bad thermal couple. Take out the thermal couple and sand it off. It's that part that the pilot flame is always touching. Usually a pointy silver metal. If sanding doesn't work- replace.

I have a gas heater that keeps shutting offf. The power is turned on but within hours it cuts off. [email protected]

the thermal coupling may be bad!! if the coupling goes bad it will shut down flame. its a safety feature, if gas comes out, and no flame it shuts gas off. the coupling is in pilot light flame and works on the same principle as a thermometer to sense the heat. good luck !!

Rheem Power Vent model RN 21-VP40-1 gas water heater no hot water but venting runs. Is it the ignitor or the thermostqat? About 10-12 years old.

it may be the thermal coupling that is bad for the pilot light. if it goes bad the flame will go out. replace thermal coupling. so if the pilot light is out then it will not heat water. or turn burner on.

My oven won't heat up properly

wire brush the oven pilot light orifix flame may be lessened due to carbon buildup then when oven lights its convextion pulls the pilot flame away from thermal coupling with shuts off gas (in case wind blows it out, it will STOP the GAS FLOWING. if the pilot full size (near 3/4 inch tall) then just try to position the thermal coupling nearer the flame (not right on it)

How do i use the reset button to turn the hot water to star heating again?

turn the dial to pilot and push and hold down red button while you light the pilot located inside water heater beside burner, keep holding button down after pilot is lit for about 1 minute. If you let go and pilot goes out repeat above steps and make sure pilot flame is heating up the thermal couple. If that fails replace themal couple.
