Freezer fan motor replacement

How to replace fan motor on LG lfx25960sw behind freezer?

  • Anonymous May 18, 2009

Got Er IF code on panel almost a year ago(about three months after warranty exp.) Tried all of LG's suggested fixes, went through "test" with LG person on phone who said the ice maker unit was broken and had to be replaced. Connected me with LG Warranty repair guy and we got a new ice maker installed for $200, only to have the same error message code show up a week later. Now he says he thinks it's the fan. We are not hopeful ....

Clicking noise and not cold

Sounds like its out of gas for whatever reason what you can hear is the safety heat cut out on the side of the motor ,the motor is running hot because either the cooling radiator is well dirty or normal is low gas .If this fridge has a cooling rad and fan under the unit it could be well dirty and the odd dead mouse or a few spiders at the least

We have an error code on the water dispenser screen - Er IF What is the fix for this problem? This is an LG French door model LFX25950SB.

You have a ice fan motor problem. This fan motor is what feeds cold air to the icemaker. Try unplugging the refrigerator for a few minutes to reset the computer. Plug it back in and see if the error code stays off. If it returns, you will need to remove the ice fan motor from the freezer and see if ice has built up and blocked the air flow. The ice fan motor is located behind the back wall inside the freezer. You will have to remove the drawers and slide supports to remove the back wall. There are 2 fans behind the wall. The one on the left is the ice fan motor. Good luck.

I have a LG model LFX25960ST refrigerator with an error code of FF. I know this means the freezer fan, but is that one of the fans located in the freezer? When looked up online, neither of those two fans...

yes, its located on the freezer; behind the rear wall. yours has 2 fans; one for the ice cube room (upper left corner) and the fridge/freezer motor (in middle) behind rear freezer wall. this is the motor you will need. the part number should be on it.

the IF erroR is for the ice fan in your freezer it is not working properly or is froze up the control can detect problems with the fan i would check to see if it is running and jammed but it is verabal speed so if it ant jameed there is a good chance you need an ice fan

Error code er ff.how do i fix this? freezer is still freezing but fridge is warm.

The error code appears when there is an abnormality of BLDC FAN Motor for Freezer. It circulates cold air from the freezer to the fridge to allow cooling. Check the motor wiring harness for poor connections. If the motor is not working at all, you need to replace it.
To remove the fan and motor assembly:
  1. Remove the freezer shelf. (If your refrigerator has an
    icemaker, remove the icemaker first).
  2. Remove the plastic guide for slides on left side by
    unscrewing phillips head screws.
  3. Remove the grille by removing one screw and pulling the
    grille forward.
  4. Remove the Fan Motor assembly by loosening 2 screws
    and disassembling the shroud.
  5. Pull out the fan and separate the Fan Motor and Bracket.
  6. Replace fan motor assembly in reverse order.

Freezer runs but does not cool

have you tried to replace the fan motor located behind the panel, just remove the 4 screws in each corner and the fan is behind this panel, it should be 2 screws and a few wires to disconnect, replace motor and connect wires this should cool the freezer properly

Door display shows eror code FF

This means your freezer fan is not working and you'll need to replace it. It's one or two small plastics fan that sits behind your freezer drawer. It's located behind one of the two wall panels behind your freezer drawer. They circulate the air flow throughout, one for your refridgerator and the other for freezer. I had to have both replaced and now my line holder in the bottom back right side of my refrigerator is leaking, so I had to shut off my water until we find the part number. Good Luck! I know I'll need it because my wife has all LG in the kitchen including a flat T.V and 2 microwaves.

Freezer cold/fridge warm

You have a defrost issue and needs to be serviced by a qualified LG technician.  The freezer fan motor is blocked by a large chunk of ice behind the rear panel of the freezer section.  You will need to remove the rear panel to get access to the fan and get rid of the ice.  This will get your refrigerator working again but this problem will return.  You will need to have your control board replaced.

Where do you get replacement motor for fan?

hesitate a little. the fact that the fan not spinning does not mean it is faulty. check continuity across the fan or if you can do so safely, power it direct from mains. remember a lot of these fans are unpowered when the door is open as well
