I had the same problem. Called whirlpool to get some help but they said that I would have to call someone to come out and look at my dryer (to much money) so I got online and tried to see if anyone had the same problem, one sight I found said that it could be the thermal fuse so I took my chances and order one online, and sure enough that is what it was.. Saved me so much money!

Whirlpool Dryer Question - Drum sometimes doesn't spin

It sounds like there may be an issue with the motor or the motor switch. The thump sound you heard could be the motor attempting to start but not being able to, which can also explain why the drum won't spin. It could be a problem with the wiring, capacitor, or the motor itself. You may want to check the wiring to ensure there are no loose or damaged connections. If the wiring appears to be in good condition, it may be best to call a professional technician to inspect and repair the dryer.

How to fix dial on sde4606ayw not spinning but the dryer gets hot.

If the dial on your Maytag SDE4606AYW dryer is not spinning but the dryer is getting hot, it may be due to a faulty timer. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue:
  1. Check the timer motor: The ticking noise you hear could be the timer motor trying to advance the timer. You can test the timer motor using a multimeter. If the motor is faulty, it will need to be replaced.
  2. Inspect the timer knob: If the timer knob is loose or cracked, it may not be engaging properly with the timer shaft. Check the knob for any damage or wear and replace if necessary.
  3. Check the timer shaft: If the timer shaft is damaged or worn, it may not be able to turn the timer. Inspect the shaft for any damage and replace if necessary.
  4. Test the cycling thermostat: The cycling thermostat is responsible for regulating the temperature in the dryer. If it is faulty, it may not allow the timer to advance. Test the thermostat using a multimeter and replace if necessary.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, it may be best to consult a professional repair technician for further assistance.

Model lde8414ace maytag dryer

There is something causing the drive motor to bog down. This means the fan isnt spinning fast enough and the whole unit is overheating. Check for anything around the edges of the drum, coins keys etc. The squeal is the belt from the drum being stuck. See how hard it is to turn by hand.

Our Whirlpool gas dryer, Model # LDI5701W1 stopped working in the middle of a cycle. Power supply is fine. With door closed, I can't hear the timer humming. Could it be a door switch, timer,?

it maybe but here is a website that shows how to test them, it may be a loose or broken wire, a reset button on the motor, or other things:

Dryer wont react when hit start button

HI, Sounds like Normal 0 , UNPLUG the dryer! Remove the rear panel of the dryer and locate the fuse. It is white and ¼” wide and 3” long. It is located on the blower housing. Remove the wires and check to see if it has continuity. If it does not, you need to replace it.
Please let me know if this help or if I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic
