Try a different cable. Try leaving it on playing songs till it's dead and keep turning it on till it will not turn on any more. Then try charging it. If you are charging via USB into a PC or laptop try charging it via a wall socket and the plug it came with. You could have a bad cable. If you have not AC adapter to charge with try charging on another PC. If you have no other PC try a different USB port
My Kubit Roca battery has swelled up 2 twice it's size and spit the case is it a common case with these
Most mp3 players have a lithium battery, which doesn't like being fully discharged. (so i don't agree with the advice to run it flat, and then try recharging it.) it sounds like yours is at least partially dead, and you can try to disassemble it, and replace the battery.
opening them up is sometimes difficult (some are glued or heat-welded shut), and some batteries are soldered in, so you will need a soldering iron and some skills. but the good news is that replacement batteries can be had very cheaply (~$5) online, just make sure that they say "free shipping" (or the s&h will cost a lot more than the battery).
or just accept that we live in a throwaway society and buy another one.
