the PCM will cut fuel if it (thinks?) that spark is bad, this feature (safety) is a spark read back path that tells the ECM/PCM that
spark is good.
so once spark is good, all 4 cylinder. (max) simple tests, (ask)
then its bad fueling, (more simple tests)

top good guesses are:
1: bad fuel.
2: bad spark (never ever tuned up, this decade)
3: fuel filter packed, fuel pressure very low. or nil. or marginal.
4: wrong gas cap? causes low fuel pressure?
i check spark, then fuel.
to check fuel i fist check pressure, every time.
the squirt test only proves the pump has electr. power, nothing else. I use a real guage to do that., do you have tools and gauges and a volt meter? if not, its all just guessing.
