My shower head leaks

I have a Price Pfister Catalina R89-7EBK shower. The head leaks water a couple of times a day. We do not use the shower. The cartridge appears to be fine. I called a plumber who wanted to replace the cartridge but was not sure if the problem would be fixed. My dad thought there may be a pressure release using the shower head.

For some reason the cartridge set up does a sporadic drip which is infuriating but replacing the insert will not fix it
after the cartridge there is just an empty hose to the shower head and no pressure

SOURCE: single handle tub faucet will not divert to shower

the diverter on the tub spout is bad you need to replace the tub spout or the pull up diverter if its a separate piece if you have the owners manual with a parts diagram you can order it on line from the manufacturer or a plumbing supply store. you will need to unscrew the tub spoup from the wall to do this use a broom handle or something similar inserted inside the spout and turn it to the left to remove it from the wall

Shower head slow drip when valve close

You need to rebuild the cartridge. There are small o rings inside and dirt and other particles in the water tear them.

TAPE OVER THE DRAIN UNTIL FINISHED.

Turn off the water, pull the handle, unscrew the retaining portion of the bezel usually with thumb traction ribs. THe whole plactic part pulls out. Take this with you to a plumbing place, and likely you can get one for free...

Alternatively, you can call Price Pfister, and they well likely send what you need to your door...probably for free...

Only hot water

The 974-760 stem has the cool water screen plug with debris and you will need to disassemble the valve body to fix the problem. Be vary careful as parts for that assembly are real hard to find.

I cannot get the water to turn off no matter how far i turn the handle

Once your cover plate is removed you can access the cartridge. With different styles by Price Pfister there maybe an additional pressure balancing part behind the cartridge. If so they should both be replace at the same time. Remove and take to your local plumbing parts store for a match up.

Price Pfister Shower--No water to shower

Does the tub spout water flow stop when the shower knob is pulled?

Was the systems pipping flushed before the shower head was installed?

It may be clogged, remove the shower head and then attempt to operate. If it is clogged you will see debris trapped in the screen at its connection point. The shower head can be disassembled - cleaned - reassembled

Is the shower head an adjustable type, that may be in the off position?

Good luck

Price Pfister ashfield collection shower single lever.

This sounds like a proper with your water heater. If you just installed this new shower head. First take it off and make sure that the hot water valve is opening fully if that checks out then go to the water heater and make sure the pipes check out ok and also that the heater is ok. Try putting a water heater blanket on it. Also try getting some pipe cover and cover the hot water line so on really cold days or not you will have warmer water
