I need to reset BIOS Password on Toshiba L745D. I am unable to find the Jumper (B500?) on motherboard, so want to replace CMOS battery, however, the battery is locked with a plastic cover which is soldered to motherboard. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You may be able to reset the bios by shorting out the battery leads for 30 seconds. This may however completely drain or damage the button battery.
The only other way to fix this would be to unsolder the battery and solder a new one back in I've done it before on a dell laptop.

The password is STILL THERE! Battery was out for 24 hrs, but no affect on BIOS Password. Please help!!

  • rstar111 Nov 16, 2013

Even with the battery out you need short the battery connection. You can do this by placing the battery in upside-down. If that doesn't work you may need to flash the bios.

SOURCE: I changed RAM settings in BIOS, now I can't boot - need to clean CMOS

Pg. 1-15 in your manual. Do both. Clear the cmos by switching jumper to pins 2&3. Make sure the power cord is unpluged. Use a flat head screw driver to help you lift out the battery. Wait a few seconds. Pop the battery back into it's holder & reset the cmos battery back to pins 1&2. Plug the power cord back in. Boot the Pc & press the delete key to enter the bios. If the Pc is beeping remove the memory & reseat. Try another boot up.
Award BIOS Beep Codes: Repeating (endless loop). Check for improperly seated or missing memory. If beep still continue, only place 1 dimm in slot A closest to CPU. Do not forget to unplug power cord before messing with the memory or switch the PSU to off. Wait for the green light on the board to go off.

SOURCE: CMOS resetting Clearing

I had the same problem.

I fashioned a small piece of wire, and with each end, shorted the two sides of the battery together, - thereby removing the BIOS settings through a loss of power.

Do this only briefly though - you don't want to drain / destroy the battery altogether, as this will hold your future bios settings in the cmos chip.

Good luck,

Erik.

How to remove bios password in toshiba satellite A305-s6905 laptop? i tried removing the battery, but it didnt work... it asked me for a JO pin, which i was unable to find.

Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don’t have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.
When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.
Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.

Forgot the password for my toshiba satellite 2545cds and it locked me out how do i unlock it?

If you've forgotten you BIOS password you can easy access the BIOS by reset the CMOS battery and jamper.

The BIOS password is stored in CMOS memory that is maintained while the PC is powered off by a small battery, which is attached to the motherboard. If you remove this battery, all CMOS information (including the BIOS password) will be lost. You will need to re-enter the correct CMOS setup information to use the machine. The machines owner or user will most likely be alarmed when it is discovered that the BIOS password has been deleted.

On some motherboards, the battery is soldered to the motherboard, making it difficult to remove. If this is the case, you have another alternative. Somewhere on the motherboard you should find a jumper that will clear the BIOS password. If you have the motherboard documentation, you will know where that jumper is.

If not, the jumper may be labeled on the motherboard. If you are not fortunate enough for either of these to be the case, you may be able to guess which jumper is the correct jumper. This jumper is usually standing alone near the battery. If you cannot locate this jumper, you might short both of the points where the battery connects to the motherboard.

Need to reset my bios password on toshiba satellite a135-s2286

Hi,

you need to upen up your toshiba, and disconnect the internal battery, not the big one. Or, maybe a simpler method - call toshiba to check if there is a master password from them... :-)

How do you reset a Toshiba Satellite L305D Power on Password?

To reset the password on this model, you need to:
  • Power off the computer, flip it over, and open the ram door
  • Find a small jumper to the left of memory module 0 (the one closest to the board).
  • Use a screwdriver to jump this pad while you turn the computer on
  • Continue jumping the pad until after the splash screen dissappears
  • If successfull the password prompt will go away. If not, try try again.
  • When successful, make haste to update your bios: http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/cont...s/slb8v140.exe Toshiba's have a nasty habit of setting bios passwords on their own. I'm assuming thats why you're here.
