if your ds is about 2 years old, it's probably time to change the battery. even though the battery is rechargeable, it wont hold a charge as it gets older. no matter how long you keep it on the charger, the battery is truly dead and it wont turn on. if anything, replace the battery. if your ds is brand spanking new, then you probably didn't leave it on the charger long enough to begin with.
The battery is probably completely drained. Rechargeable batteries have a certain lifetime in which they can be charged to. The charge limit for a Nintendo DS is approx. 500 charges. When you pass this limit the battery will no longer work. Your best option is to buy a replacement battery at http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/
After a year or more a rechargeable battery won't last as long as it did when it was new.
the DS might be wrong try charging it overnight if this dose not work than the battery pack in your ds is spoiled this happens over time wile you have your ds if charging dose not work go to a game stop and have them change the battery pack. Hope this helps!
my son took his ds lite outside and it rained it worked then wen dryed out it dose not i put the carger in rhe orange light go's on then off plz help my upset son he is only 3yrs old many thanks
Ensure that you are properly recharging the battery.
1. Insert the small end of the adapter into the external extension connector (labeled "5.2V=IN") on the back of the Nintendo DS Lite, just next to the SLOT 1 Game Card opening.
2. Swing the prongs on the AC adapter until they lock into place, then insert it into a standard (120 volt) outlet.
The plug should be mounted vertically or on a floor outlet (such as a power strip).
3. Once the adapter is properly inserted, the unit will begin to charge (the orange charging light will display).
4. Once the DS Lite is fully charged, the orange charge light will go off.
Check the AC Adapter for damage (such as bent prongs or split wires). If you see damage to the AC Adapter, purchase a replacement from NintendosOnline Store.
Try plugging the AC Adapter into another wall outlet. Its possible the outlet is not working properly and has not been charging the Nintendo DS Lite.
If you are unable to get power to your Nintendo DS Lite, despite trying to properly recharge the unit, then your system will need to be repaired.
Nintendo offers convenient repairs, fast turnaround times and, for all systems repaired, a new one-year manufacturer's warranty.
