Question about Vivitar ViviCam 5340s Digital Camera

1 Answer

Charging question Is it possible to charge the battery for a 5340s without the camera dock? I recently got the camera secondhand and don't have any of the accessories except a USB cable I found on ebay. Perfectly good camera except the battery is dead and needs charging. Any ideas?

I have the same camera. I don't think you can charge the battery without the dock, unless you find a separate charger for the Lithium battery it comes with. It's a Lenmar 3.7V/700mAh type battery. I looket it up on radioshack. I lost my charger RCA jack power chord. I am trying to find a new one. If you have any luck, post an answer.

How to recharge

The charging procedure varies from camera to camera. Some cameras charge the battery by plugging the camera into a wall outlet. Some do it by connecting the camera to a powered USB outlet. Some cameras come with a separate battery charger. Some cameras come with a charging dock. Some cameras don't charge at all, using standard batteries which can be charged using a standard charger.

If you need more specific information, please reply to this post and specify the make and model of your camera.

I have a Dell Latitude D600. It will not charge from the charging port in back. It will charge while on the dock. There is always a flashing error code, I assume, on the charging LED. It flashes 4 red and...

Don- I went to Dell support and without knowing a service tag #, I looked your laptop generically. Here's a link to your owners manual: The only thing I could find about "light error codes" was in the solving problems category. I read something that said your battery/laptop is too hard to charge. I replaced the motherboard recently in a friends d800 because the power jack had got pushed in and dislodged from the motherboard, then wouldn't charge the battery. Although she had no error codes OR a docking station. You said you replaced the battery and the cord. Did the new battery/charger ever work right? if no, why didn't you take it back? Is it still under warranty? Without more info, best I could come up with. Hope this helps and good luck.If I helped please rate me. Thanks -jmattes

Red flashing light on battery indicator on the loading dock.

My Z760 does the same thing. When that happens I run the battery completely down by taking pictures until it shuts down. Then when I put it on the dock it charges properly. Don't leave your camera on the dock all the time and don't try to always keep the battery fully charged--instead it will develop memory and think it needs to be fully charged to run and will give you a low battery signal earlier than it should. Wait until you actually get a low battery signal before charging and it should help, but mine will still give me the red light sometimes. Then I run the battery out like I said before. I hope this information helps. :-)

Kodak EasyShare Z760 won't charge.

The problem might be that the battery has developed memory and won't charge further. My first battery used to do that, but then I read that you shouldn't leave the camera on the dock all the time nor keep the battery fully charged all the time because of the problem of developing memory. You might try running the battery completely down by taking pictures until it shuts down. Sometimes when my battery is low the dock won't charge (but goes straight to the red light), but when I run it completely down when I put it on the dock it charges properly. I hope this information helps. :-)

You can't charge the camera with the USB cord because the camera dosn't have a charger built inside. You need to use an external charger. Here is a link showing several sites that have battery chargers for this camera.

Charging Camera

I would test the docking station first. Do you have a way of charging the camera without using the docking station?

Thought I'd ask because some can and some can't.

Cant charge camera on dock or print photos

the dock won't charge batteries that are ni-mh kaa2hr or Li-ion battery pack - so check that

about the printer's ability to recognize the cam, try this.. remove batt, put cam on top of dock (when cameras are on a dock, they can use the dock's power so you can print pictures without batteries) check if somethign will come up on the cam screen

if not .. either would need to be sent in for repair. a digital rep will advise you to send both so the repair center can check
