I have a 1999 Legacy. Died while I was driving. Oil didn't register on dip stick. Won't start now. It turns over fine. Has power, compression, oil & fuel pressure is good. Plugs are dry(Not saturated). Seems like fuel isn't making its way into engine. Timing looks fine too. Tested fuses, relays, injectors and sensors, with no success....HELP!

Did you wait a few minutes to check oil once it drained back to oil pan? The alternator can quit, but the car will run on the battery for a short time until it is dead..this is usually marked by a sudden sluggishness, low voltage indicated on batt gage, then sudden shut down..Try jumping the battery,it will start, then pull off the pos cable,it it dies immediately, have alternator tested/replaced...good luck

Could have overheated because low on oil, the engine may not start until the computer is reset, a safty feature which keeps the engine from damage in such cases., Take it to a mechanic to reset the computer if you think the oil being low was the main issue.

You have a problem in the fuel pump relay circuit for sure then. I'm betting the relay, but it could be that dropping resistor.

That eliminates the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors. Have you checked the fuel injector itself for an open winding or stuck valve plunger? There should not be a steady 12 volts to the injector--if good injector, it would be spraying fuel steadily into the throttle body. But at least the engine should try to run if poorly. Take the injector out, dry it off with air, and intermittently apply 12 volts to one terminal while grounding the other. You should hear a click from inside every time you touch 12 volts. If not, replace it. If it does, it may be plugged with debris. Try blowing through it in reverse with compressed air.

My 1999 subaru legacy outback wont start. It has spark and fuel. It has low to no comperetion on 2 out of 4 cyliders. Whats the problem?

You may wan to check to make sure there is no oil in the water or water in the oil. Pull your dip stick out and see if the oil looks foamy white. Oil in water should be easy to spot. If you see these things it could be a cracked head or bad head gasket. How many miles are on the car it could be a timing issue ... your tiimg chain could be broke or wore.

Check the oil level on the dip stick in your engine. If the dip stick indicates you are low on oil add the proper oil for your make and model.

e: subaru legacy transmission dipstick Transmission dip stick is behind the engine in front of driver side firewall. Move a few hoses out of the way, look down and you'll see it has a yellow top.
Other side (passenger) lower down yet, again move a few hoses aside, yellow top handle, you'll find the shorter differential dip stick.
In either case, if your gaze reaches the ground, you've gone too far.

I just bought a 1999 mitsubishi sport limited suv, i bought it because of how clean the motor was and it ran very well. It didn't blow out any blue smoke out the tail pipe when I first started it and even...

well if you checked the oil when its hot that would maybe explain the no oil. Did you try to drain the motor first then add new oil. make sure you didnt over fill the engine with oil as this will blow the seals. If you just bought it id take it back. In my state you have 7 days to back out of a contract. But if you added new oil Put cardboard under the vehicle then try to turn it on (only if you didnt overfill it.) then figure out where the leak is coming from. If you can diagnose the leak i can help you from there. If its not a leak and its burning the oil and since you say its blue smoke this is generally a sign of bad pistons or piston rings. If it were thick white youd know it was a headgasket. But id say first look for the leaking oil. If not check the combustion pressure of each cylinder. Find which cylinder is off factory spec and there will most likely lie your problem. here is a video showing a compression test if you dont know how.
Note* that not all of what he says in the video applys to you as he is talking of mg's but this is to show you how to do a compression test if you so choose.
if you need further assistance please let me know. I will be glad to assist you further.

98 Subaru leaking oil

Oil leak will not change run temp but can cause a fire.
The smoke is the oil burning on the engine. The 1st thing you need to do is clean the oil off the engine.
Next top oil off to the full line on the dip stick. Now start the engine hold idle up to around 1600 rpm for 1 to 2 minutes keep engine run and look for the oil leak. Don't get caught in any moving parts and things will be hot so be careful. Most likely from your valve cover.

White smoke cuming out tailpipe 3400 v6

I would almost bet you have a blown head gasket or a cracked head. White smoke at the exhaust, loosing coolant, moisture on the underside of the oil fill cap, and on the dip stick are all signs of a blown gasket. The fact that there is no coolant in the oil does not mean it does not have a blown gasket. To find out for sure remove all spark plugs, disconnect the coil wire, and then run a compression test on all cylinders. If you find one or more with low compression you have a blown gasket. Do not drive this car any longer until you get this repaired. Serious engine damage will occur if you continue to drive it.
