I have a 2010 Impreza. Check engine light, traction control icon stayed on and cruise control icon was flashing. I removed the battery cables, cleaned the poles and cable terminals, then re-attached them. Then I started the car, all icons turned off as normal. A friend who was an amateur race car driver was the one who gave me this advise. I suggest try cleaning the battery cables and poles first, it may fix it as it did mine. If the dash icons still stay on, then bring it to your mechanic for diagnostic testing as there may be a worse problem. Cheers. :)

It fixed my 2012 wrx sti subaru with the same problem. A good battery terminal cleaning and back to normal.

When you have a check engine light come on, the traction control light and the cruise lights both come on as well. You need to have the codes checked with a scanner. There most likely isn't a problem with the traction control or cruise systems, the lights turn on because those systems work together with the engine management system or PCM. When there is an engine problem that sets a code that turns on the check engine light, it automatically disables the cruise control and traction control for safety reasons. Because the last thing you want is to have an issue with traction control and/or cruise control if your engine is having an issue, which is why they are disabled. The most common problem that turns on the check engine light is a loose, cross-threaded, or snug but not tight enough fuel filler cap. Subaru recommends three clicks of the cap to be considered tight. Also, any parts store can and will check and/or clear codes for free. I hope this info helps!

SOURCE: check engine light, cruise control light flashing,

Take the car to Autozone or similar business for a free code read with a scanner. Depending on what turns up, they will be happy to sell you any needed parts.

SOURCE: the check engine light is on and the cruise

I also have a 2005 Legacy GT Limited. My Check Engine light came on about four days ago and the cruise control light also flashes. I ran across this post while searching for more info. Here's what I know. I have a scanner, so I scanned the computer and found out the trouble code is P0011 - Cam Position Timing Over-Advanced (Bank 1). This problem has nothing to do with cruise control, so I'm not sure why that light is flashing - I haven't found any reference to it in the owners manual. Bottom line, you really can't guess at the problem when the check engine light comes on - you have to get it scanned so you know the real problem. The check engine light generally comes on for something that would affect emissions, so a cruise control problem generally wouldn't cause the check engine light to come on. I'm guessing that when there is an engine problem, they disable cruise control, which is why the light flashes.

CEL light, cruise control and brake light blinking and traction control light (codes P2096 and C0057)

I have seen this happen with dirty or loose connection ether at or around the battery and also the connection at the under hood fuse block itself . Sometimes its the connections under the fuse block. Check them all , and while its apart apply some dielectric grease to each connection, If you can find the connection to the ABS pump I would start there. The ABS is part of traction and stability control . Disconnect the battery before unplugging anything tho .

Why would engine light, cruise control and abs light come on?

hello,do post your DTC'S,(diagnostic trouble codes) and may be i can help.many modern vehicles spring up a multitude of warning icon's on the dashboard, much to the alarm of it's owner, however, often it can be as simple as a dirty wheel speed sensor, which fails to provide the necessary information to the main (ABS/TRACTION control unit) and so then will inhibit the cruise control,as naturally it's unable to ascertain road wheel speed, and also throw up the engine management light,as the braking/traction control systems unable to supply correct information to the main engine computer(ECU,OR PCM) electronic control unit/power control module. hope this helps, but please supply any further information that you can, regarding your DTC'S, that are read out,try to get a full print off,if at all possible, cheers.

My cruise control lights and everything work, but it wont set speed and hold that speed, or anything. all fuses are good

Suggest 2 basic checks:
1. check engine light on? Some severe codes may also disable cruise control (and traction control, etc.).
2. make sure your break lights aren't on. The switch on the break pedal controls the break lights, AND cancels cruise.
