Grasshopper 928d i have power but it will not start?

First DON'T use it if it is smoking. There is a serious risk of a fire or electric shock!! The inside parts of the motor are badly worn and need to be replaced or rebuilt. You will need to take it to a specialist to repair this as it is NOT safe to use until you do repair it.

THAT IS HOW THE SAFETY SYSTEM WORKS . YOU NEED TO TURN THE DECK CONTROL OFF .

Grasshopper doesn't seem to sell repair parts for ZT mower hydromotors. The motor is only available as a unit for $1000.
That being said, someone built it out of machined parts, so it could be rebuilt if you can get the machine work done. Maybe.

Sounds like you have defective diode rectifier. this little box when working properly allows your voltage to only go 1 way to charge the battery. if you have used a vehicle to boost the tractor you have damaged the rectifier. because a vehicle running puts out 14.8 volts lawn equipment is 12 volts only you can boost using a vehicle only if it is NOT running

Post about the same mower n grasshopper diesels altogether and didn't find an answer . I went to the repair shop in the months to follow the overheating and I figured the problem out after seeing the engine cover missing of off the majority of grasshoppers . The cover holds the heat in . Our mower no longer gets out of the green . I m sure u will figure it out after u testy theory

I owned the same model, quite simple wiring. I went to the local Grasshopper Dealer and cross referenced it with the Grasshopper model 1212. (which is the same model because grasshopper made all of Wood's mowers for quite some time) I asked them politely and they printed it off for me for free and then I made a few purchases (oil filter, air filter, etc) because I didn't want to seem like a cheap skate.
