Sherwood rv-5010r Im not getting any signs of power to the unit. obviously plugged in to power, but nothing happening when I press the power button. what could be the reason ?

Please power cycle your tv and check that it's connected as it used to be when the video-button was working for you. You can also power cycle your sherwood device before attempting your initial procedure/button press again. If it still does not work, please test that your speakers are able to function with other items in your location in order to eliminate the speakers as the potential cause of the issue.

You will have to check the fuse.There probably is a fuse next to where the power cord goes into it. It will look like a little round black cap. It may be necessary to push on it and twist it in order to get it out. It will be marked on the case with a number followed by the letter "A", that being the fuse rating in amperes.

Sherwood RV-8070-R, remove cover from amp. and clean volume control with electro contact cleaner/lubricant the best you can, clean all other controls while your at it, balance, tone, etc.

You need to replace the battery in this unit as its not putting out enough charge to power the unit even tho it says it charged.

Sherwood's site has a manual for the model RV-4060 (click here to download) but not for the 4050. You might find it similar enough to help you. Otherwise you can try a Google search for generic Dolby surround connections. It's usually pretty straightforward. Connect the audio out from your source (TV, DVD player, etc.) to the receiver. Connect the surround channel speakers to the appropriate rear panel jacks. Fire up a source you know has Dolby encoding, turn on receiver's Dolby processing from the front panel, and experiment with the different modes to hear what you get. Just remember you can't break anything just by pressing buttons.

Try these simple trick to find out yor remote control working or not....
Point the remote control towards the Camera of a Mobile Camera phone,with the camera on. While pressing remote, we can see a light (Infra Red) coming from its IR LED through the Mobile Camera if the Remote is working.
If the remote is OK, then the problem with the Remote Sensor or related components of the receiver.

if your skilled enough,concentrate only on the power supply circuit and try to check some chips,if not see a qualified tech.
