After cranking the engine over without firing- pull a spark plug out to see if it is dry-that would indicate that your not getting fuel into the combustion chamber or if it is wet with gas you may not be getting spark-cheers Denny

Testimonial: "Thanks Danny we are getting spark and it even fires sometimes. It just won't start without spraying engine start and then it goes...while you keep spraying it runs but as soon as you stop so does the car..fuel pump relay ect has been check I think I'm going without food and getting a mechanic...my son can take things off and replace stuff but he isnt a mechanic and we dont really know what to do know...Im thinking a cliff and tossing it off..lol...thank you for trying to help"

SOURCE: 1992 ford ranger 3.0

i was once pulling a trailer with a ranger when it suddenly lost power and the engine died. turns out the problem was with the fuel shut off inertia switch. the switch is supposed to activate in case of accident. on my model the inertia switch is located in the passenger side under the glove box. dont know where yours is located. once you find it, just push the button and see if it resets. good luck.

SOURCE: 82 corvette crossfire injection, engine

Please go to the crossfire injection forum to get some straight answers to the 82 corvette CFI system and how to troubleshoot it properly. There's a lot of misinformation given here, so much so, I don't know where to begin.

One thing is, the 82 corvette CFI does NOT have a MassAir Flow sensor system, it uses MAP and O2 mostly. The CTS sends a signal to the ECM telling it what the temp of the motor is and in turn the ECM controls the amount of fuel being dumped. On the older (orignal) CTS sensors, they have one wire and takes its ground from the threads. If any coorosion takes place, usually the CTS will report a cold engine and request lots of fuel.

To repair this issue, install one of the newer style CTS sensors that have two wires, one for signal and the other is ground.

Fuel pressure and vacuum leaks on any CFI motor play key roles. Set the FP to 14-15psi measured inbetween the TBs. The regulator is located on the rear TB and must be slightly moded to make it adjustable and can be done in a few minutes.

SOURCE: 1991 Olds Cutlass Ciera 3.3 v6 would start, run a

jrtvett's "unplug one injector and start" troubleshooting procedure would work if one injector is bad. If more than one injector is bad, then not so sure.
Like you mentioned, one or more injector(s) can go bad and it causes the others to stop working as well. After our experience, I am convinced this observation (fault mode) is correct (see below). Its as if upon warmup the solenoid in the faulty injector shorts, resulting in short circuit of signals to all the other injectors.
We have a 1989 Olds Cutlass Ciera with the 2.8L V6 that recently had the same fault: At least one injector went bad after warmup, then engine refused to restart. All other possibilities were eliminated, including crank shaft sensor, ECM, ignition pack, idle start valve, bad gas, rail pressure, etc.
No Service Engine light illuminated, and there were no fault codes in the ECM computer.
The jrtvett procedure could not easily be utilized in our case because all the injector connectors are underneath the intake manifold and inaccessible.
My cousin is a Ford mechanic told me of an analysis procedure Ford uses to troubleshoot injector problems. They display rail pressure on a LCD or CRT monitor and can see pressure drop with each injector's opening. Unfortunately, if the car is not starting, then this test will not be of much use. The engine has to be idling or at least all of the solenoids in all of the injectors operational to use this test. If engine won't start, then its clear none of the injectors are opening as described above, then no fluctuations in rail pressure would be displayed.
The shop that was working on our car decided to replaced all of the injectors, and the engine now runs like new.
Due to inaccessibility of injectors and fact these injectors were inexpensive ($40-$50 each), it was wise just to replace all six. Grading old injectors is not exact science.

Car wont start electrical problem not fuel pump or relay as auto electrician has checked this and gas is pumping to engine mechanic has checked that leads and spark plugs where diagnosed as problem...

Before you spend any more money, try to determine which system is causing the problem. Did the auto tech check to see if your engine is getting spark? This can be done by pulling a spark plug, reconnecting the plug to its plug wire, and laying the plug's threaded end on a metal part on the outside of the engine. Then crank the engine and observe the center electrode (in a shaded or darkened area) of the plug just below the threads. If there is a bright bluish spark between the center electrode and the L-shaped arm on the very bottom of the plug (below the threads), you can rule out ignition electrical problems. If there is no spark, the problem could be the ignition coil, distributor cap, rotor, ignition control unit or spark plug wires. If there is no spark, your problem is likely fuel related. Just because the fuel pump is working, that is no guarantee that the fuel is reaching the cylinders. The AE-100 engine is electronically fuel injected, which means you could have problems with the fuel injection pump, the fuel injectors or the throttle position sensor. Check for spark first and if that's not the problem, post back and we'll try from there. Good luck.

Car turn over but wont start

cranks , no start. classic.
no starts 99% factor.
is
1: engine compression weak or dead x4 (timing belt snapped?)
2: lost spark check spark, (google it 10000000 hits)
3: lost fuel ing, or its flooding.

if spark is good, and the spark tips are dry, try test fuel.
spray test fuel in to the induction path and see if engine
runs for 3 second/

1992 toyota tercel turns but wont start

running out of ideas, try spray trhotle body cleaner while some one try to start the car, if it runs then your problem is in fuel pump circuit or pump, by pass or jump fuel pump relay and check fuel pressure, check at relay socket your signal from ignition switch it must be hot all times(ignition on) also check your ground points, clean then if excesive resistance, good luck.

I have a 1988 toyota van le cargo 2.2 engine

Try spraying starting fluid into the intake of the air cleaner while someone else starts the car. Continue spraying the starting fluid for about 15-20 seconds. If the car starts, more than likely your fuel pump is bad. Check your fuses, and make sure you are getting power to the fuel pump. [email protected]

My 1991 Toyota Previa has been sitting and now won't start.

You need to check a couple of things. If your car has been sitting, then it could be any of a number of problems. Check to make sure that you have the three things your car needs to run. 1. Air- is the air filter clean with no blockages like mouse nests on the intake side and also in the exhaust pipe!! 2. Fuel- Do you hear the fuel pump kick on for 2 seconds when you first turn the ignition to the run positon? If not, your fuel pump could be suspect. 3. Spark- If you have air and fuel, but no spark, then your ignition system is under investigation. Be methodical you need all 3 of these things for the car to run, without any one them your stuck!
Hope this helps you out!! Try running the car on propane, if it runs beautifully, then you know it's a fuel delivery problem.

My 1991 honda civic runs fine yesturday and today it wont start please help

the car wont start? do you mean the engine wont turn over or it wont fire or run? if the car does not run but it turn over, check the basic..see if you have sparks and fuel, then check all your fuse pertaining to engine and ignition. the car need to have both thing in order for the engine to run. If you getting both sparks and fuel you engine may have jump time especially with older car with high miles, it the sign timing belt getting worn, you don't want it to break. if you don't get fire from spark plug then you may have a bad coil, distubutor, rotor or timing sensor. if you get no fuel, fuse blown, bad fuel pump relay or fuel pump it self. hope that help some ..good luck
