Re: E 2800 PC Desktop Problem

If you're locked out of the BIOS, removing the battery or re-setting it with a jumper would work. if you're locked out of the OS, try logging in as administrator, as many people leave the password blank. OPH crack is available here: It will find many passwords, and it's easier than re-installing. Have you tried logging on in safe mode?

Problem on Dell OptiPlex 780 Desktop

You are going to need to start your computer in safe mode and find the XP drivers that will work for your motherboard manually from the web (Assuming that there are any created for XP for that board)..

That blue screen you keep getting is because you don't have the correct driver loaded for something on the motherboard that it needs to boot correctly and your XP install couldn't find it on the web to install automatically.

Start your PC and press F8 several times until the boot menu comes up. Then select "Safe Mode with Networking".

Now start looking for your drivers here:

Slowing slow and probems keep coming

Hello Nancy,
There are many reasons a computer can slow down. Here are some maintenance procedtures you should do on a regular basis.
You should defrag your hard disk ona regular basis to keep your computer up to speed. Many of these tasks can be automated with the scheduling features in Windows.
Check for and install any operating system updates. Make sure you have "Automatic Updates" turned on.
Run a full system anti-virus and anti-spyware scan. Make sure your anti-virus and anti-spyware software are up to date. If you don't have these on your computer, there are many good free anti-virus software. Do a Google search for free anti-virus and anti-spyware. Also, clear the cache on your browser. Delete all history and cookies and temp folders. There are also websites such as that does free online scans.
You should also stop unwanted progams from stsrting. To do this go to Start menu, enter msconfig, and click OK. Click startup and uncheck startup programs you don't use. Then click services and uncheck services you don't use. If after doing this and something stops working that you need, again bring up startup and services and re-check the ones you want to run.

These basic maintenance steps should help keep your computer running up to speed.
I hope this helps you.

If this is a floppy disk then run a disk cleaner and then try to read disk. If it is a CD or DVD om Drive then buy a good CD/DVD cleaner disc and run it on your computer.

We are trialling an L300 unit at a fast food type of place, problem is that after a period of inactivity it will log out by itself. I'm aware of the sleep function, which has been disabled, is...

This could be an issue in group policy. As I'm not directly there to look at the way the network is set up, it could be a number of things. While I don't believe the systems don't run on top of Windows Terminal Services, and considering that it is a fast food joint, it is hard to tell specifically other than that they may have it set up to log off after a certain amount of time of inactivity.

I hope this helps!

Step2 - Once you login to recovery console, run chkdsk /p followed by chkdsk /r.
Exit the command prompt after chkdsk /r completes and restart your computer and see if that works,.

Step 3 - If it doesnt, try running a repair installation with windows XP.

Step 4 - Insert the windows XP disk, press enter to continue setup followed by press R for repair.

I have a gateway GM5442 computer. Lately it has been giving me a warning that the power supply cord or something has been diconnected and I don,t even know what it looks like.

Usually you get messages like this when there have been temporary power outges and your computer gets shut off abruptly.
I wouldn't worry too much unless the computer acts weird when you start it up.
