HOW TO FORMAT HDD - Hitachi HTS543232A7A384 320 GB SATA II Hard Drive

You need to Format first before initialize HDD. when format done you can initialize the HDD. Check the Format Option in Storage Management.

if your HDD is ok, then try to format. go to the the main menu, manege media, select HDD, give format.

the HDD of your cam may be faulty, try to format in the main menu, scroll the screen "other setting","manage media" select HDD and format it. if formatting is not possible, it means the HDD is not good, change it.

That begs a question, Why do you want to format the HDD? 1. Remove the HDD, format. 2. When you install a OS, in the installation process, it will format format the HDD.

you dont need to format on a working computer u can just format the hard drive during the install of windows xp.
it will give you the option to delete the data and format to either FAT or NTFS.

If possible get partion manager s/w and format it,it's better you have partio magice bootable CD with you and format with it,even after using partition magice cd, if your hdd doesnt format, there is a way to open a hdd and fixing the head of hdd try it out and let me know.

Try to format your HDD on the camera itself. Formatting is available in the menu. Formatting your HDD outside your unit is not recommended. Make sure to back up important files. Hope it Helps

Go to HDD Utility -and then HDD Format
To do that click on MENU, then turn the Multi-Jog up to HDD Utility
Press once on MultiJog to select HDD Utility, and then turn the Multi-Jog to HDD Format.
Press once on MultiJog to select HDD Format
Then Click on the small "Complete" Button
