Cant initialize disk
Hi Anon
Try connecting your hard drive to another computer and running the windows disk tools to test your drive, make sure that the options to automatically fix errors are selected, if this does not work then a suite of hard drive tools from Acronis (disk director) or Paragon (Hard disk manager) may be able to fix your problem.

How to change the password in bios
There are two ways.
First, if you know the BIOS password then most probably you know and would not have come to Fixya.
Two, if you do knot know it or have forgotten, which is most likely the case, then you must turn the laptop upside down and open up the bottom plates till you find a button cell. Remove the button cell for a few minutes and then reinsert it and screw back all the plates you opened. Turn the laptop upside up and power on. You will find that the BIOS password has been removed.

Hard disk acess problem
Hi,
What the message mean is that Windows can not read/understand the filing system (something like the Table of Contents in a book) and therefore do not which and where are your files in the 80Gb.
A few things you can try:
1. Run Windows Scandisdk on the Hitachi 80Gb;
2. Run any third party disk check/utility such Norton Disk Doctor.
Alternately, you can use a file recovery software (such as GetDataBack) to recover/copy all your important files from the 80Gb and transfer them to another mass storage device. Thereafter, you can re-partition and re-format the said Hitachi to start new/fresh/clean.
Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turnes up or should you need further information.
Good luck and kind regards.

Not recognized drive.
If you can get an identical Drive you can change the Data PBC Board....... this will work in alot of cases.... if platers and damaged the data is gone..... don't open it....... if you do throw it away....

USB device ok, but no drive seen
if you have 1394 also know as firewire, use that option. If this is an external hard drive, like what is depicted, than it maybe possible the enclosure has failed.Try testing with other cables or ports.
