How to save contacts on memory card in NOKIA 3310

Unfortunately, you cannot save if the list exceeds the limit(on feature phones like Nokia 3310). However you can save your contacts on your sim card. But that too is very limited

I've been sent a number and its saved it straight

I don't know what kind of phone you have but most will give you am option in the menu to look at what is on your memory card. Just go to your menu and choose whichever option (some phones put it under control options) gives you access to memory card then retrieve your number. It sounds like you have the phones address book set to saving on memory Rather than either phone or memory + phone. If this doesn't help post phone brand and model, that would help allot.

Just type desired number then choose option (or save, depends on type of your mobile and choose SIM instead of phone memory). You can also copy numbers from phone memory (and vice versa) but SIM cards are limited to 250 numbers and 30 SMS.

Sony ericsson W700i

most of the SE phone have two types of contact saving

1- in phone memory
2- in SIM card memory

if u have contacts saved in SIM memory but u r using
phonebook memory then it is default

if u save any contact in phone memory u have an option too
to copy it to SIM memory

for deleting a contact it will behave like this:
for example, u have a contact saved in phone memory
as well as in SIM memory
if u delete this contact, then it will be deleted from phone
memory but not from SIM memory

and when u are called from same number
(which is not present in Phone memory but is in SIM)
it displays the name again
