Do u regularly oil the parts? It might be stiff when not oiled for a long time and had not been used for a while ;)

Instructions on oiling your hook (the only area suggested for the user to oil) is located on page 40 of your instruction manual.

Your machine can be found on the Singer web site here: http://new.singerco.com/products/detail/1337
There are links to instruction manuals and accessories on that page. You can also post in the Reviews and Question/Answers section on the bottom of the page to solicit feedback and help from Singer experts and other users.

SOURCE: Single 8280 sewing machine handwheel not turning

okay, i have never used a sewing machine except for once, but i do know quite a bit about them because my grandmother knows a lot to. so, here we go. take the spool of thread off of the machine now, locate the thing (i'm not sure what its called) that the spool rests on. now, push it in and turn it at the same time. test it out. keep doing that until it works. it might take as much as an hour, but at the same time it could just take a few simple seconds. good luck.

How to operate a singer 547 model

The user's manual is available as a free download at the Singer Sewing machine site. However, I believe your model is a 8280, not a 547.

Why is my singer SEWING MACHINE prelude HAND WHEEL RESISTING

Make sure the bobbin winder is in the position away from the bobbin stopper. When you fill a bobbin, you have to push the "spindle" towards the handwheel. If you do not push the "spindle" back into position (away from the handwheel), the wheel will remain locked.

I've just bought one. Is it normal that the hand wheel is hard to turn. Does not that put stress on its motor?

hi, if you just bought this machine, my suggestion is to take it back & get another one.
the handwheel is not suppose to be hard to turn when it's brand new.. I've been sewing for over 30 years & I wouldn't keep the machine, I'd take it back & get another that works properly.

My presser foot lever wont lift the presser foot all the way up on my singer

Make sure that your needle is in the highest position, turn your handwheel towards you, not away from or else you will mess up the timing
