If your spraying start fluid into the intake and nothing happens, then your compression is low. These engines are know for rings shrinking. Check compression, it should be around the 300psi range.

Engine run rough and black smoke coming from tail pipe why?

Go to the wreckers car junk yard and see if you can find another module or buy a new one but yes it sounds faulty... modules are non-serviceable so just get another... Run a code reader just to make sure that it is that module thats faulty

Smoke coming from engine

Where is the white smoke coming from? Under hood? Out tail pipe? If excessive white smoke from tail pipe, suspect a head gasket failure which in turn will fill the cooling system with exhaust pressure forcing the coolant to come out of the reservoir and resulting in an overheating problem

Smoke from exhaust

you need diagnostics scanner to read the engine light for the code, this will then indicate what problem is.

Starter is turning but engine won"t catch and start oil was low could that be the problem

Hi Shelley, you mean the engine turns over but won't start ? It's missing one of three things Spark , Fuel or compression ! The last time it ran , did it run ok or not good ? No blue smoke coming out the tail pipe or smoke coming from under the hood ? Were there any lights lit on the dash , check engine , oil light...etc.. How low was the oil ? If the oil had been very low an you where driving it you could have fried the engine ! Me ,if this car came to my shop I'd pull a plug wire an see if it had spark an if it did I put a fuel presser gauge on an check for fuel ! If it had fuel I'd check compression ! Most usually if low oil were the problem the engine would seas up an would not turn at all. No Start Diagnostic Basics EricTheCarGuy You can watch this to see what is involved in finding out the problem !

My Buick lasabre's engine was missing and light blue smoke coming out of tail-pipe. Now it won't start engine will turn over cut out and stall. Check engine light flashing, airbag light on and...

This link will help with the security light. Read the whole page carefully. The info is good and depending on your year, there might be a solution for you. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

As far as the blue smoke, thats normally burning oil. You might have multiple problems. Id suggest reposting about the smoke. The link should help you with the security.

Car has white smoke coming from tail pipe

sounds like a blown head gasket letting coolant get injected into the engine and getting burned with the fuel. a head gasket replacement should help

Black Smoke coming out the right tail pipe only

Black smoke indicates a fuel problem, if your o2 sensor goes out frequently you may need need to adjust the air/mixer mixture. this can be done on a diagnostic machine, you can buy the portable ones but I find that the bigger versions are easier and more reliable. Dealers are the best choice but as usual it will cost you.

Good Luck =)

White smoke?

It's just condensation. Water will also drip from the pipe.

The colder it is, the worse the 'smoke' will be. I was in Vernal, Utah earlier this week, drove through -18*F weather, my truck never quit blowing white smoke.

And NO IT IS NOT YOUR HEADGASKET
