When you plug a cord into a two pin connector that I assume is on the side of the box, it should disconnect the batteries inside. If taking the batteries out kills the power completely with the cord still attached, then the switch on the power socket in the unit is NOT connecting the built-in power supply.

Behind white label , remove label , insert the power adaptor to proper hole .

If the breaker trips immediately when you plug it in, then you have a short in the power cord. If it trips when you turn it on then look for a short at the switch or the burner element. If it stays on a while and heats up then trips, it could be a fault inside the element or possible wiring connectors that are not good and tight. Look for discoloration in the wires and connectors.

You can buy cigarette lighter power supplies at radio shack, they sell a wide variety of voltages and tips to fit almost any device (radar detector) you may have.
The 4 things you need to know (which you may be able to find off of the broken power cord

• voltage, your car is ~12VDC (volts DC) but your device may need something lower
• amperage, your device has a certain power draw, as long as your new plug has the same or higher you are good (ie: your device may say 500mA, you can use a 1A power plug (1A = 1000mA)
• tip size, these vary from device to device, best thing is to bring it into Radio Shack with you and size it up there
• polarity, what is positive and what is negative (on the tip), this may also be found on the old power plug or manual, or sometimes on the device itself)

Hi .. you can find replacement cords for many counter top appliances at most appliance and building supply stores. Try Ace, Home Depot, Lowes.

you can use 9V-1A or 12V-1A AC Adapter.

A lot of these 12 volt turntables are designed to operate with an Audio System. If you find out that model number you should be able to get the specs on the turntable. Perhaps the System is around your father's house somewhere?

Well I work at a local pawn shop and we had plenty of cords for them but you can find them anywhere there just basic cords that fit anything from a ilive to a ps2
