The Main HDD? If you are reloading the OS? In the install it will ask if you want to format. OR, you can remove the HDD and format.

My vaio gate stopped working

if u want to format then press the assist button on top of the laptop and it will suggest u to format the c drive or the d drive

before formatting i suuggest u to do system restore if yhere is some problem like unwanted software or viruses then it will make it good

VGN-NS130Ei want to format my loaptop but i dont have any cds that came wit it thanks in advance

vaio computers came with vaio recovery partition to format the harddrive without using recovery cds.

restart the computer
when you see the VAIO logo, press and hold F10 for 5 to 7secs until you see loading files or edit boot options
if you see edit boot options, press enter
it will load the vaio recovery center
choose restore c: drive from vaio recovery center
follow on-screen instructions
process may take up to 45mins or 1 hour to complete the recovery with random restarts

Boot from the "System Restore" CD-ROM.
One of the "setup" options for XP (or for Vista) is to "format" the entire disk-space, before continuing with the re-install.

I had the same problem , i was using a spanish date format.
I changed the date format to an english format (mm/dd/yyyy) and now all vaio programs work ok at start up and afterwards.

I can't format my sony vaio with win xp?

U need to download the raid drivers and put them onto a floppy drive .. during loading of XP install u press a key to load Raid or Scussi drivers .. hit that, load the driver u put onto floppy and it shud then find it

Hi
Yes, of all have you got the sony xp cd and its drivers cd?
You will need to go to the bios and change how the system boots, change it so that it boots for CD or dvd drive.
The the xp cd in the drive and reboot you system, once it boots it will boot from the cd or dvd drive. it will ask you to press any key to continue, thats it. Just follow the prompts!
Remember to back up you data!!
