Back firing thru carb in 1985 Grand Wagoneer new rebuilt engine

I just put a rebuilt 360 V8 and rebuilt carb in my 1985 Grand Wagoneer. Now it is back firing through the carb. Before the rebuilt carb it was back firing through the tail pipe.
Does anyone have an answer to my problem?

How do i test bad crankshaft position sensor

which engine? the 360 V8 (nobody can guess this, you cant fix engine
with out knowing what is there, nor buy parts. ) so now is the time.
the grand had 4L and 5.9L (360) optons
the 4liter has stink'n French RENIX EFI system, and no scan tools or blinking CEL lamps to help you;. stink'n it wins title, Chyrsler cure it in 1993. bless them.
but the 360, v8,

what are the symptoms. (hark)?
the JEEP SJ car.
is it 2150 CARB? or EFI engine, you do know that all cars USA can
be either on this transition year (EPA mandated)

my guess is the CKP sensor is your guess, with a bad running engine/
am I correct.? and its not even there, its carb car>?

whats under the hood of any old car is not known
after so many years, it might have and engine swap done
or who knows
try posting a photo of the engine.

1989 jeep grand wagoneer 360 how do i test bad crankshaft position sensor

double posted, now with 360, 5.9L V8 fact.
great.
and has no such sensor.
its a CARB car
with ICM , spark magic box. , NO ECU /PCM brain in car
there for no CKP sensors.. sorry?

if you dont know what is there, photo it and post it
so others can see what is missing or wrong, from factory day 1 build.

i google for you
rockauto shows no such part in 360
alldata.com same
hell. even the 90s the same.
see it here.
all schematics

if engine wont start. even with test fuel, check spark
see the spark section below, under ignition.

http://oljeep.com/gw/elec/GW_wiring-1990.html

the distributor has cam sensor. not crank.
it called today, CMP, cam sensor
this sensor sends signals to the ICM the ICM then makes spark
buy driving the coil,
the CMP is more like Points, simulation, and lasts near for ever.

the 89 4L has a CKP (crank sensor) and is know to fail on brand new cars. (you need to tune it to make work , back in 88/89) at flywheel.
ask me how in know./././??

360 spark
CMP >>>>> ICM>>>> COIL>>> Dizzy cap>>> spark plugs.
this is the chain of events.
the DIZZY does the ADVANCING with ICM. totally. on this car.

Jeep 360 rattle sound at idle in park

it could be a wrist pin, and im not sure if those amc's had hydraulic lifters but sometimes with old lifters when the oil pressure is lower at an idle the lifters arnt filling up all the way so they develope a little valve lash, and when the rpms are raised the oil pressure raises and fills the lifters. you could try chasing the noise down with an automotive stethoscope.

89 Wagoneer drives rough

The thing to do now is a fuel pressure test pump could be weak just a few pounds under the recamended pressure will do that weather its mechanical or electrical . Is there a filter in the carb. wear fuel fine hooks? If none of this is an issue at least you can eliminate fuel deliverly as the problem.
