I have just obtained an IBM Golfball Typewriter.
If a key has 4 symbols on it (e.g.1/8,3/8,?,=), pressing the key enables me to print (3/8). Using the shift key enables me to print (1/8). But how do I print the (=) and the (?) ?
On the right side of the keyboard what is the wheel beside the on/off switch for?
On the left side of the keyboard what is the long key (bearing + and -) for?
The wheel on the right hand side of the paper carriage has a slightly smaller wheel within it bearing what appears to be f 0 0 2 3, what is this for?
Only 2 of the letters or symbols will the others will be on another element (ball).

1: Multiple symbols on a keytop are for different character-sets - changing the golfball (type element) can change some of these characters.
2: Wheel beside on/off switch is either Velocity Control (impression) or Dead-Key disconnect for multi-language models (for typing accent's, umlauts etc)
3: Left side +/- is the Tabulation Set and Clear rocker key. Clear all existing tabs by tabbing all the way to the rh side, then press and hold the rocker in the '-' position while you press the carrier return - this will clear all set tabs in one operation. Then space to wherever you want a Tab stop set (say 10 spaces in) and press '+' to set a tab at that location. Return and then press the large Tab key to advance directly to the stop.
4: The wheel on the RH platen knob is the "Page-End indicator" - when you roll a sheet of paper in, you set the dial according to the paper size and when you near the bottom of the page, a quick glance will tell you exactly how many lines until the bottom (allowing for a bottom margin of course)
Hope this helps
