It slides to open, but then bottom 4 icons won't respond. Seems like it must be a software issue since the slider works. So it responds to touch. I know this seems to be a fairly common issue. I have AT&T, so no jail break on it. I have already done a complete restore, and set it up as a new iPhone. It is my 3rd iPhone, got it in December right before the warranty expired. Thank you for any help!

I do not have much idea for this particular Iphone, anyway this may help you, first open menu >> setting >> display setting>> select Homescreen>> and active it by using OFF or ON button.Good luck
Press and hold the home button (bottom center) and the power button (top right) simultaneously until the phone shuts off (ignore the slide to turn off).
Continue holding both buttons until the apple logo appears. Once the Apple logo appears, release both buttons. This should perform a hard reset on your iPhone and hopefully will eliminate the issues you're having.
This shutter problem could possibly a cause of something that has corrupted the software.
For a quick fix try the following:
Double tap the home button.
Then hold in any of the icons that have come up in the multitasking section at the bottom of the screen.
Once the x buttons appear you need to kill the camera app.
If this doesn't solve your problem and software restore or update via iTunes should resolve your issue.
you need to calibrate your screen. the touch sensor has moved so when you press on an icon the phone sees it as another icon. this can be done in the phone's touch settings
The last row of icons which is the bottom row with Phone iPod etc? It sounds as though your digitizer is bad, the iphone digitizer is delicate and seems often goes bad. does your unlock screen work? the bottom off the screen handles the unlock and bottom icons. if your unlock switch works then you may just have a software problem going on. reboot your phone by pressing and holding the power and home buttons until the apple appears. when it reboots see if it works properly, if not you may have a bad digitizer. is your iphone a 2G or a 3G?
it seems like software issue u have to update ur software first from Itunes if it is a locked phone it will remain locked if it is un locked then it will get locked again then try street shops to get it un locked if u want ,try changing the sim as well
