This is a brand new 1 week old ge profile dryer that is making a squeling noise very load.

put tape or something in it

If it is a front load dryer it will come out of the front. You have to get the top up and then you will see how to gain access by removing the front. If there is a drive belt, you may have to remove the back panel also. Make sure the power is unplugged.

Dryer turn on makes a humming noise intermitantly and won't dry at all have changed coils. It's not the fuse or vent. Help??

the drum bearing is failing or seized or the drum is loose

Your drum may be out of round. The drum belt on the outside of the drum may be rubbing against the cabinet. When the cabinet heats up, the side walls of the cabinet may be bowing inward, thus making contact with the belt on the drum. This would explain why it is intermittant. When the heater turns off, the cabinet cools and the sides bow back out.

GE's have a center bearing in the rear of the drum, it can be replaced but is a little difficult to do.
