Question about GE Profile Harmony DPGT750EC Electric Dryer
New GE Profile Dryer makes intermittent loud rubbing or squeaking noise when running. Sounds like a squeeky hinged door being opened and closed rapidly. Or a zipper being dragged across a hollow metal object rapidly in a 1-2, 1-2, 1-2 type cycle. Ocurrs for a few minutes, then stops for a while and then starts again. Have only had the dryer for about a month. Has done this since the first time I used it but sometimes gets very loud.
Your drum may be out of round. The drum belt on the outside of the drum may be rubbing against the cabinet. When the cabinet heats up, the side walls of the cabinet may be bowing inward, thus making contact with the belt on the drum. This would explain why it is intermittant. When the heater turns off, the cabinet cools and the sides bow back out.
