Hello
there are two different seals on the water pump. the oil seal and the mechanical seal. the oil seal helps seal out the oil from the trans case. the mechanical seal helps seal the coolant from going into the trans case, and vise versa.
the weep hole is there to help diagnose if either seal is faulting. so if coolant is leaking from the weep hole. the mechanical seal is faulting or if the oil seal is leaking oil will drip from the weep hole.
hope this is of some help. thank you.

I have a 1996 saturn 1.9 litre. Ohc. I replased water pump and still getting very warm. I found a pin hole in the underside of the radiator cap. Its on the bottom on the part above the water hole. Could...

Pressure test the radiator for leaks if it holds pressure start the engine. And check if pressure rises and keeps rising ,if it does it points to blown gasket or cracked head. A faulty thermostat can make it over heat so check it out . I would not mix the anti freeze as a lot of them don't mix well. put the anti freeze in all year as it stops corrosion of the cooling system.

I've just bought a Fiat Palio 1.2mpi EL 2002 model with a water leak at the bottom of the engine where it couples onto the gearbox, water gushes out, hoses and radiator seem ok. Any advice out there...

It may be a leaking frost plug. Some engine blocks have holes needed for the casting of the block or for machining. These are then plugged with cup shaped plugs called frost plugs . These can sometimes corrode and start leaking. Check to see if this is the case and replace plugs if needed. Hope this helps

Will to much oil in motorcycle cause it to go into coolant

No, only a leaking head gasket or a popped water pump oil seal will allow anti freeze into your oil. I would look for oil or antifreeze out of the weep hole under the water pump at the front of the engine. If the weep hole has become plugged wwith dirt or debris, then the anti freeze would pass into the motor oil. If this is the case get your water pump from Honda and purchase the water pump gasket set from K&L supply, it will have all the gaskets, seals, and washers to replace the water pump. If you suspect the head gaskets , remove the spark plugs and look for signs of antifreeze in the combustion chamber. It is not definitive but it may give a clue with out just going to the expense of changing the head gaskets out.

I have ani freeze driping on the bottom of the front of the oil pan. Is this the water pump going out?

Sure sounds like the bearing on the pump is bad and letting the water leak out the hole in pump front. Hope this helps.

Suzuki RM 125 water is mixing with the gearbox oil how do I fix it, or what is the cause. The water is leaking from the cooling system and turning the oil milky. I have just changed the oil and filled up...

The water pump is in the motor case and has a leaking seal. Anti freeze is leaking past the water pump seal into the transmission. Take your water pump apart and replace the seals. The fluid should be escaping out a weep hole in the bottom of the pump, so when you have it apart be sure and dig the mud out of the weep hole to keep from filling the motor with anti freeze if this ever happens again. If there is no weep hole then it must not have been designed with one.

2003 crf 450 leaking coolant from hole from the bottom of the case under the water pump. What does this indicate?

It means your water pump seal is seeping at this point. Eminent failureportended. Replace water pump. Seals on pumps usually fail because of bearing wear, so this is a precursor to pump shaft failure. Good luck

Anti freeze smell when car is shut down

do u smell coolant in the car when te doors are closed? if not it is not the heater core, have you had the system pressure tested at a shop? If I had to guess the 2 area's that would cause this are loose radiator hose clamps that just seep, not enough to get to the ground, but enough to smell the coolant, the other a slight leak at the water pump weep hole on the underside of the water pump, this can also be a seep and not reach the ground. Try adding a can of Alumiseal radiator and block sealer, comes in a little aluminum colored tube, about $3 US
