Thumping sound I am in the Military and move a lot. After my recent move my Frigidaire FEQ1442ES starting making a thumping sound when drying. I removed a panel and saw where the drum is rubbing on top of the plastic elbow vent under the drum. I believe the drum got knocked out of alignment when we moved. How do stop the thumping? How do I adjust the drum? Do I need to replace the belt and if so where can I get one?

Worn rear bearing.
Worn drum slides which are at the front of the drum and made of oiled felt.

When you are drying clothes the drum is moving up and then thumping down. Open the door, can you move the drum up and down?

POSSIBLE BAD ROLLERS, BAD DRUM GLIDES, WORN BELT, DAMAGED BELT TENSIONER? AND BAD FELTS ON THE DRUM ITSELF

No...you do not need a new drum...all you need is new drum rollers
You probably have a flat spot on one of the rollers, it will make the thumping sound when the drum rotates.
Go to the following webpage and get your drum rollers and install them and that should take care of the noise you are hearing

go to empty parking lot with windoes down and drive in a circle to left and then to right if you hear a clicking noise ,grinding, thumping ,not at high speeds ,if you go fast that could do more damage. hope this gives you some help , good luck.

Sounds like the tub is unbalanced from either a bearing/pulley suspension problem or the unit has broken something off in between the tub and outer portion of the unit before you get to the walled panels, and you are hearing a rubbing and thumping noise. This is not a typical DIY job since the entire back panel of the unit needs to be pulled off and diagnosed.

1. Thoroughly check the inside of the dryer for any foreign objects with hard surfaces. Sometimes items that fall out of pockets become stuck inside a dryer and make thumping noises.
Check for level
2. Make sure the dryer is level. A dryer that is out of level may not rotate properly. Banging or thumping noises from unleveled dryers are common, particularly if the dryer is resting against another metal object such as a washer.
Check rollers
3. If the thumping noises are present only for the first few minutes of the drying cycle the likely culprit is rollers. If the rollers are warped they will need to be replaced and a professional should be called in to help

The belt tensioner roller has a flat spot caused by a worn bearing that catches and stops whilet the drum is turning. This causes the flat spot and the noise its making. You can purchase a new roller by itself and do change the belt the same time too
