1995 dodge caravan 3.0l starts but starter does not diengage

The starter has been replace twice, the first time Jan 08 batt power not start
2nd time starter rngaged but did not dis engaged and burnt
replaced with third starter now its doing the same starts but starter stays engaged
any suggestions
could it be the ignition switch?

    i dont belive this starter has shims

    its a direct fit

    i put this starter in on Thursday the 12th of March

    no teeth missing on the fly wheel

    stater drive is fine

    there is no missalignment marks

    could it be that the key switch is sticking?

    when it stick and you shut it off it stays engaged

    put the key in the on position again it starts the van and disengages

    some time you have to do this more than once

If that starter is damaged then replace it and make sure that you shim the starter correctly or it will bind the gears and do the same thing again.

    each starter is differ. But if the gears are not disengaging in that many starters then i would shim it one shim at a time. Trial and error.

    Unless you have a teeth missing in the flywheel which could damage the starter too.

Starter clicking...batt or starter?
If the starter produces a single click it is most likely a worn starter solenoid contact. You can verify this by testing for 12 volts on the small solenoid wire when the key is placed in the start position. If there is 12 volts, then the starter needs replacing.

Check starter relay the 2nd one from the washer jug. Feel for clicks while someone else is attempting to start it. If there isn't any, you can tap it lightly with the back of a screwdriver handle. If it starts, replay the relay. Also, make sure it isn't fuel related by taking starter fluid and spraying it into the intake...you will need to take the plastic air intake tube off to get access to the throttle body.If you do get it to start, but won't continue to run, check the 1st relay for clicks as well...replace as needed.

My 1997 dodge caravan won't start. has no power to starter wire or to engine. battery ok stater ok switch ok fuses and relays ok
there is an interrupt switch, called neutral safety switch. When it fails or goes out of adjustment, no start, and essentially no protest or indication. Try foot on brake, shift to neutral, turn key to start and slowly move shifter out of nuetral in each direction. If starter actuates, look into switch adjustment.

I have a 1995 Dodge caravan, it turns over but
fuel filter, fuel pump sonds like it is not getting fuel. Because when you spray starter fluid in it, it started and ran on what little bit of starter fluid you sprayed it with.

Our 2003 caravan just stopped starting,we have owned this van for 4 mon no problems, only 70000 mls, all of the sudden it won't start, changed out auto safety shut down relay switch, ignition switch still...
Check the starter selenoid, check for corrosion on batt, terminals and inside the cables, tap the starter with a metalic object and try to start the car, if it starts change the starter.

Check starter relay at the time of a no start. It will be the 2nd relay from the water jug. Just have someone to attempt to start it while you are holding you hand on that relay. It it doesn't click, tap it with the back of a screwdriver handle. If it starts then, replace the relay.

My son is trying to fix my 1993 dodge Caravan. When we try to start it it just clicks but then sometimes it will start. What is the problem and where on the engine is this located?
If it starts when you turn the key several times most likely the starter is going out. Usually you'll get just a click when turn key on 1st or 2nd try but after trying it 3-4-5 times and it suddenly engages then the starter is the most likley culprit.
This is located on the front side of the engine toward the radiator in most cases. You did not mention which engine it had.
