Acceleration I have no clue whats going on with my car. I had to replace my camshaft because it broke going down the interstate,So I just got a used head from the junk yard and put it on with a new head gasket and put timing back on and new spark plugs and wires. I drove it around for a couple of days and as I was leaving I got down the road to a stop sign and I heard a pop and now when im driving it won't pick up speed. I go about 5 miles per hour with the gas pedal to the floor. If i let off it will either cut off or just idle weird. But when I am parked I can rev it up and it revs up fine. But as soon as I take off it only goes 5 miles per hour. I changed the fuel filter and I can hear the fuel pump kicking on. Any ideas?
Re check the valve timing, align the crankshaft and camshaft timing marks, adjust the timing belt and torque the timing belt bolt properly. Hope that works.

Your trans is toast. It could have been that you lost a fuse or anything simpler but you lost reverse as well which mean that your trans is gone due to mechanical issues not electronic.
My Golf GTTDI had the exact symptoms your describing a week ago. knocking/shaking, lots of smoke, lack of power. the Hydraulic lifters had stopped working and the camshaft/followers had become mis-shapen. Had the lifters&cam replaced and runs like a dream now....
It is not unusual for a camshaft sensor (or crankshaft position sensor) to fail. They are replaceable. If the onboard computer does not get the correct input it cannot control the engine timing correctly and automatically shuts down.
If it will restart after it cools down then it might be the camshaft positioning sensor. It will be located beside the oil filter on the block. If this part is cracked it will short out as the car heats up and cause the computer to shut the car down.
Code PO10 has to do with the "Camshaft Position Actuator circuit Bank 1" an actuator is a relay, solenoid or motor that send a signal to the cumputer that something is wrong.i think in this case it is the Camshaft Position Sensor or the camshaft interrupter magnet. Probably the sensor has to be replaced. It is located on the engine block.
