Hi, First remove the knurl nut on the top. Remove the top and then the glass globe. There are several types of mantels most of which tie with a string that is part of the mantel top. The newer ones have a wire clip in place of the string. Which ever type you had on before you need to remove the old pieces completely. Since the mantles burn to an ash they will disintegrate when touched but if it had the metal clip you need to remove it. Tie or clip the new mantle over the lip on the output orifice being careful with the screen underneath. Replace the glass globe and top, put the nut back on finger tight. Remember that the mantel turns into ash when it burns for the first time so keep the gas low to start it till the mantle forms properly ( in the first minute) Good Luck, this should Fixya!

I am trying to find battery location for Coleman Model 5327A750

William, went to Coleman site, looks like you remove screws on bottom of lantern to access and change battery.
Check the attached links to your manual,

How do I retrieve the bolt that attaches the main part of the lantern and has fallen inside?

Not sure where it could have fallen into but if you unscrew the top nut you can take off the lens and keep working down taking parts off until you get it all apart. Hope that helps.

User's manual for coleman rechargeable lantern model # 5348-700

There are several options to buy replacement batteries for a Coleman rechargeable lantern, model 5348-700. I just picked up two new batteries from www.1000bulbs.com for $4.87 each plus shipping. ($20.99 for 2 with shipping!) Do a Google search for: ub645f1 6 volt - 4.5 ah - f1 terminal battery for other options

I have a coleman propane lantern model 5417 that will not light. Does seem to be getting the propane. Appreciate any help or ideas. Thanks, Joe

Clean the hole in the tip of the generator, or turn the wire handle 360 deg. 2 or three times, and try to light the lantern with the wire handle in the down position.
I hope I was some help? Cheers David [email protected]

there is something in the jets or the piping to the mantels, you my find spider webing there, if you did no cap the port where the tank goes some small friends might have wanted to go camping with you.

How to light coleman lantern

Kerosene lanterns require a little more than just lighting the mantles. Go to Coleman's website and find the directions (for free) for KEROSENE lanterns. The generator on the lantern needs to be preheated with alcohol before it will actually light. Make sure lantern is a Kerosene lantern and not a white gas (Coleman fuel) type, there is a difference even though they look similar.

Coleman lanterns as collectibles

Coleman Collectors Guide 1903-1954.

Tucker & Ebebdorf

ISBN 0-9651407-0-9

This is an excellent reference with lots of pictures etc., it does not give the prices, however.

You can check Ebay for completed prices if you need an idea of value.

I have not found a book yet with accurate values on Coleman lanterns.
