This might be the effect of some spyware or virus attack.
Go to safe mode and run your antivirus/Antispy.
If it does not work, then reinstall the OS or recover from recovery disk if you have one.

I am continuing to recieve Windows update error 9C48 and I am unable to fix error

Hello,
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=23332
Instructions:
  1. Uninstall IE9, if you already have it installed, and restart the computer.
  2. Download the installer.
  3. Disconnect from the internet. This is important because the installer attempts to download the latest, bad binaries from Windows Update.
  4. Let the install finish, and restart.
  5. Reconnect to the internet and check Windows Update. If all went well, you should be able to see the Cumulative Update for IE9, instead of IE9 itself.
Thanks

3. Click on Trust center.
4. The Trust center window will pop-up and click on Add-ins on the right part of the screen.
5. Under Manage: COM Add-ins
6. Click on Go.. (Middle bottom part of screen)
7. Uncheck all the Add-ins Exept for TMAS (TMAS is Trend Micro) then Click on OK.

reboot system, then right after it finishs with the cmos screen pres f8, you may have to press it several times real fast in order for the system to catch it. That will give you a boot options list. Select last known configuration that worked, and press enter.
See if that fixes your boot up problem. If so, then run system restore, and do a restore back to before your computer crashed out on you. If not, then reboot system, and do the f8 thing again. This time, select safe mode with network. then if it boots up, mcheck and make sure you have internet. If you do, go to: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm

Select cleanup scan, and follow directions for program. You may have to allow activex from the Microsoft website for it to work, but it will clean out all the registry errors, as this is what is causing your fault.

IE stops working intermittently and and advice that website cannot be found, I've had this problem for awhile and is a nuisance because when it goes down it takes everything with it

It happens when your network connection goes down. Please make sure that you have a reliable Internet connection. Please install Chrome or Firefox and check whether it happens with these browsers as well. If so it is a connection failure. Contact your Internet Service Provider.
If you are unable to check using browsers, please do the following.
  1. Click on Start menu.
  2. Type Run in the Search Box or if available on the menu Click on it.
  3. Type in cmd.exe and press enter (do this at the very moment that your Browser shows that message.
  4. On the Command Prompt type this command and press enter.
  5. ping www.google.com
  6. If there is a reply (in the form of Reply from 64.233.181.106 ...) your Browser has a problem.
  7. If you get Request Timeouts, your connection has dropped or has a very weak Signal Strength.
  8. If you see any other message like "Unable to connect ...", that means your Internet Connection is down.
  9. You have to contact your ISP for the last two issues.

Feel free to contact again.Don't forget to rate the answer Have a good day!
Thanks for contacting Fixya!

Explorer problem

Hi

I suggest to restore the settings of your internet explorer to defaults. There could be bugs during your windows update.

1. Open internet explorer, go to tool --> Internet Options ---> Advanced tab ---> Reset.

Reset all the settings then restart your computer. In case you cannot open internet explorer because it will just give you a white blank page. try the following steps below.

1.1a Click Start -- type msconfig on start search box (for vista only). Click Run (for xp only). a pop up box window will show up (System utility configuration). Look for the tab Services.

Under services tab, put a check on the box that says "Hide all microsoft services" at the very bottom screen. Click apply then close. Restart the computer.

After restarting the computer follow step 1.

Keep me posted

Regards
