I have a new Inspiron 1420 with Vista. I use AOL for email. While I'm writing an email it jumps to another line. or takes me back to the original email. It just isn't working well. What am I missing? Thanks

It must be a Volume device drive problem, please try to update your volume device drive software, find your original dell Inspiron 1420 volume device driver software or download it from www.dell.com
Install the latest touchpad driver from support.dell.com
There is a setting in the touchpad tab of the mouse driver. Either Enable PalmCheck or Disable touchpad when typing (Depends on Synaptics or Alps drive I believe)
With palmcheck enabled, the touchpad is disabled when typing
Check where your email is hosted. For example your email is from AOL. Now you need to contact AOL and ask for the POP3 and SMTP Settings for AOL email configuration.
how did you install the new operating system.was cd absoulouty clean no scrathes.did you formatt.did u create a new partiton did u remove old OS..Try reinstalling..is your systen compatable with vista.if not it wont work..there are things you can do.
you have to get in Bios. you will find HDD section. it must be IDE/AHCI section. you need to do IDE if you want to install XP. XP doesnt regognize AHCI SATA drives.
You need a Vista premium disk to upgrade to Vista premium.
Just instert the Vista premium disk and start the installation.
If installation does not start, you will need to boot from setup CD, sometimes you have to change the bios boot sequence in bios settings, to start the installation from CD.
