In my experience a lot of these electronically controlled appliances the electronic control do go out. They are supposed to last forever because electronic do not have moving parts. The way I look at the main reason most appliance today has electronic controls should be so that the controls will last longer. It seem to me they just do it for marketting purpose. After all if appliances lasted forever they would go out of business.
