Loose drive belt---loose wires or connections on alternator--- Dirty battery terminals--clean to shiny metal both battery and leads.---- faulty rectifier in alternator.. Pace a multimeter across the battery terminals and set to dc volts reading Place revs at around 1500 rpm and read voltage . if no reading set to ac voltage and repeat. If you get an ac volts reading replace the alternator.

Why would the alternator test good off the truck but not charge

check the wiring on the vehicle to and from the alternator. Usually, the alternator needs excite voltage or it won't charge. Also, There is a circuit from alternator to battery, if something wrong with that circuit, the battery won't be charged even though the alternator is working fine.

What is model year? I don't know if your alternator is computer controlled?

Alternator not charging

If the alternators are not exactly the same as the original then there may be a problem with the voltage regulator circuit. Some alternators have internal regulators and others have external regulators.. Check for fuses in the charge circuit . If the battery is faulty then the alternators will not charge any way. Have a load test done on the battery.. If ok check the wiring circuit as the alternators require battery voltage before they will charge (no residual magnetism in an alternator)

My battery dies i replaced a brand new alternator but still dosen't charge tomthe battery

The battery most likely has dead cells and not charging due to the alternator .The alternator is doing what it should, your battery just can't hold the charge the alternator is putting out. Go have the battery tested at a local auto zone or advance auto store. Free to check

Dash says battery not charging

Alternator is what charges the battery. The alternator isn't putting out enough of amps to charge your battery and you will get a light or gauge reading that the voltage is low.

325ci wouldn't turn on so I got a jump and then when I turn it of

A working alternator can try to charge a bad battery but won't. Have the battery and charging system checked with a machine. Also note: your alternator is not designed to charge a battery. It is made to maintain the state of charge present in the battery. If the battery has been drained, then jumped, the alternator can put a surface charge there but will never fully charge the battery...This is only done with an external battery charger. Not doing this will over-work the alternator and shorten battery life!

Charging problem.. Wont charge battery

The instructions for installing a new alternator usually read to fully charge the battery (12.3 - 12.8 volt range). Otherwise, the alternator will be damaged when it initializes. I have seen some extreme damage result from installing a new alternator with a low-charge battery. The torque required to turn an alternator when damaged in this scenario is unbelieveable!
