Hey guy n gals, seem to have a problem with my gsx-r 600, basically it's been parked up over the winter months and the battery went dead. Took it off and charged it up and now put it back on. Seems plently of life in the battery and everything works, the fuel pump primes when you turn the ignition on but when I go to start her up all I get is a dull click and nothing.
I thought perhaps it was the alarm playing up and not turning the immobiliser off but everything seems to be working. So I'm at a bit of a loss what else could it be?
Any info would be greatly recieved.
The click is significant. This indicates that the starting relay is engaging but for some reason, the starter motor is not cranking. This could either indicate a faulty starter relay (particularly the contacts) or a faulty starter motor (specifically, the carbon brushes). To determine which:
with the side covers off, expose the starter relay particularly the 2 large terminals;
have somebody start the bike normally using the key and button start switch;
determine if indeed the clicking is coming from the starter relay;
while the start button is still pressed, jump the 2 big terminals;
if the engine cranks, then the internal contacts of the starter relay are corroded or burned;
if the engine will not crank, then the starter motor is faulty.

Can you ensure the car is in park? Move lever to D and then back into Park and see what happens. I have heard with this particular model, we have the environmentally unfriendly RX 330, that the batteries lack of charge may play havock with the electrics in these cars. I religously charge my battery every six months with a smart charger so its always in peak, I also find a quick zap at the first cold snap of autumn / winter gives us trouble free motoring.
Need more details, but if the battery hasn't been changed since you bought it you defintely need a new one. May also want to get a trickle charger to keep it topped off through winter months or time when not riding frequently.
carbs are dirty try this spray starter fulid only 2 to 3 sprays do not exsead more if that works run it if not running right pull carbs off and bowls clean them do not touch any more then that if you dont know what your doing
my gess is that you have dirt in system somewere (probably at the fuel entry point )restricting the fuel in so when you pull the throttle it lets loads of air in but very little petrol. hope this helped
Disconnect your battery (+ ) terminal for a minute or so, then reconnect. I've had where my vehicle came back from Florida, the night before, to the nice cold winter in Ontario Canada, and I had to disconnect battery to basically re-program all the sensors etc, to recognize difference in temperatures. After I did that, it started up fine, no more problems. I don't suspect your vehicle was exposed to any big difference in outside temperatures, but it costs nothing to try this, and I've seen stranger things happen.
