Add more ram

hi-
To add ram - look on the back of the lap top. You will see some screws that are holding down a little door. There may be two of these. Remove the screws on the ram cover and remove ram cover

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} Ram slots are stacked. you have to remove the top one first.
1- press the buttons on the sides of the ram chip, and then it will pop up and towards you.
2- 2- pull this ram upwards and out
3- from there, you can take out the other chip, if there is one, or you can start installing.
4- installing the new ram chips is just as easy
5- line up the slots in the chip, then push it in as far as you can without breaking it.
6- then push it down so that you hear it click on both sides, and doesn't budge.
7- Repeat using the top chip.
This should do it –
I hope it helps- please rate me – thanks

I have an Acer am5100-u5301a. Is there a bios upgrade?

If the specs read that you can operate with 4GB of RAM, then I believe the AMD690g chipset is not the culprit.

The RAM that you're adding may be defective, or incompatible with the existing RAM.

Another possibility could be a bad RAM socket.

I also doubt you would get a black screen due to adding more RAM than the system is capable of handling, it would still start, but would not utilize the additional RAM.

Black screen usually means bad RAM or incompatible RAM or bad socket

How to install more ram

Most laptops have a small hatch on the underside, usually held closed by a single screw. Should be a piece of cake adding more RAM, remembering that there is probably only one slot, so your original one meg will have to be taken out before you add new RAM chips.

I want to add memory and dont know how to remove battery first

You don't need to remove the main battery to install or remove thr RAM module/s
The RAM module/s will be located behind a panel on the bottom of the laptop on most laptop models.

Upgrade for acer aspire 4315

Hi, best and fastest way to increase your laptop speed is upgrading RAM to 4 Gigs, using 2x2Gb RAM modules like this one (UK seller).
Adding a bigger hard drive won't increase laptop speed, but will give you more space to store your files.
Another way to speed up a computer is using CPU overclocking, but this operation, good on old computers, is not worth on a computer with new CPU like yours.
On you tube also some user posted videos on how to upgrade chips on motherboard of old Acer aspire, but I suggest not trying this, as risk to destroy laptop is very high, and it is generally not worth.
Better to stick with traditional upgrades.

Memory RAM

Upgrading your memory would be the best thing to do. You already have the necassary information to do so (DDR 333 MHz CL2.5). With the prices of RAM dropping fast, you can get 1GB fairly cheap. Here is a link to some Corsair RAM that will work in your system. Laptops usually hold 2 sticks, so if you purchase two that will put you at 1 GB. You could print that out, and take it to your local store if you want to find the right kind, but it might cost a lot more.
The reason that Windows does not show the full amount of memory is due to the on board video card takes some to operate.
