You have a check light on

Thoses lights & their systems
have been with us for over 30 years

That said--you don't know to check for codes
& google them, to learn what system has a fault
or failure?

Still need a repair shop, any time any dash light
comes on, after the motor is running

One of the things you will want to check is your speed sensors, some times they will also cause your ABS light to come on, and they relate to your Transmission electronics that is why the Check Engine light comes on.

SOURCE: how to replace a coolant level sensor, 2000 buick century

The coolant level sensor is located on the radiator. If you are looking at the engine from the front of the car it will be on the left side. There will some kind of clip holding it in the radiator. Removed the clip and pull the sensor out. You will lose coolant so try to swap it out quick or drain some of the coolant out. Once new sensor is installed, install clip to keep the sensor in place and reconnect the wires to the sensor. Crank the engine and make sure the coolant level is full. This should correct your problem.

SOURCE: 1990 Buick Century 3.3L Check Engine Light comes on, stalls.

Need to check for fault codes. Possibly a faulty sensor causing the fuel system to run rich or lean.

SOURCE: check engine light comes on with codes PO401 &

P0401 sets when EGR flow test runs and fails. EGR may be moving too slow or not at all. May be a bad connection.
P0442 sets when vacuum decay test indicates small leak in the EVAP system detected during diagnostic test. Check for a loose or defective gas-cap. If the cap is fine it may be a false code or could be related to another EVAP component.

I have a 2001 Buick Century Custom. ABS, Trac and service engine light come on after 45 minutes and stay on. I have replaced left rear main bearing/speed sensor twice and wiring harness with same result....

have they checked the PCM/ECM fuses? some might be bad or the computer itself. does the car run poorly, bad fuel economy? you could go the the emission check place to have it checked. for alot less money it will tell you if it is computer related before spending more for a mechanic to analyse it .$15 in WA State.

Replacing a fuel filter or disconnecting a battery
have nothing to do with idle

If you have an Air Idle Control Valve on Throttle
Body clean it or replace if cleaning doesn't correct

Cannot get the 2001 Hyundai Elantra to pass the emissions test as the light stays on. When we shut it off, it will come back on after a few miles.

You need to have your check engine light checked to see what the code errors are and repair the problem so that it will pass smog. The check engine light is on telling you that something is wrong with the vehicle.

Instrument Cluster Panel out on 2001 buick century

2001 Century just hit 40,000 miles and the engine light has come on. Im wondering if this is an automatic when the car trips at 40K- for a check up or whatever GM wants your money for.

ps - from '89 to 2008 I had been driving Nissans, Toyotas and Hondas - Im driving this car only because I gave my Toyata Rav4 to my daughter and got this Buick from my elderly mother as she no longer drives. Its is amazing what a piece of **** this car is compared to what Im use to. At 40,000 miles you start having the engine light come on - amazing!

01 Ford Expedition. Check Engine light and failed Smog check.

whoever installed the egr valve, if it wasnt you, just cleared the engine codes, thus giving you this problem once again. Get it scanned at autozone, and go from there.

''Check Engine Soon'' light Stays On.

Must have engine computer scanned to get codes and determine cause of check engine light. Low tire light probably needs reset. Open passenger door and remove panel on side of dash. Reset switch should be located in that compartment.
