Unplugged and re-plugged my nearly new vip 922. Now it won't turn on at all. Dish sent me a new one but if I open it and send the old one back I lose 150 gb of programming. I'm thinking the hard drive is fine and the problem is a with or a fuse or something. Are there any options for recovering my programming without paying a big penalty to Dish Network who is rapidly ascending the ranks of my corporate ****list. Seems like it should be fairly easy to swap hard drives or transfer shows to a desktop hard drive. Is there and internal fuse? What can I do?
David J McClure,
I can definitely provide more information on
this. There isn't a way to transfer the hard drive from the old receiver
to the new one, but our HD DVR equipment does have the option of using
an EHD to backup and store recordings.
If you are able to get
the old receiver working temporarily, all you need to do is plug in an
EHD and it will ask you to format. Once it is done, you can transfer
recordings to the hard drive for additional storage space, and to back
them up so they can be transferred to a replacement if it is needed. Let
me know if you have any other questions.

SOURCE: Dish VIP 612 breaks up when playing back recorded shows.
Edy, I am not going to say that this is the definite issue but Dish only has receivers that are 1080i compatible at the time which will give you some blurring and possible pixellating. 1080p will resolve these issues in the future. Therefore if you still need help let me know.

its a problem of faulty hard drive.but you will have to get iot checked at the local repair shop.or connecting the external hard drive to your machine.
SOURCE: Is it possible to have two remotes for the dish
Hello my name is Mike Houston of DISH Network customer service. There is a way to have two remotes on one TV, the first thing we need to push the menu button two times to get to the system info screen on the working remote. Then there will be a number in a white box at the button of the screen, we will want to remember that number so we can put it in for the second remote. Now once we are on the SYSTEM INFO screen we will want to get the remote we want programmed to that receiver, we will hold down the SAT button on the remote until all the buttons light up on the top of the remote. We will let go and then press the number that we wrote down and press the # button. Now both remotes will change the satellite channels.
