VIP 922 wont start up

Unplugged and re-plugged my nearly new vip 922. Now it won't turn on at all. Dish sent me a new one but if I open it and send the old one back I lose 150 gb of programming. I'm thinking the hard drive is fine and the problem is a with or a fuse or something. Are there any options for recovering my programming without paying a big penalty to Dish Network who is rapidly ascending the ranks of my corporate ****list. Seems like it should be fairly easy to swap hard drives or transfer shows to a desktop hard drive. Is there and internal fuse? What can I do?

David J McClure,

I can definitely provide more information on this. There isn't a way to transfer the hard drive from the old receiver to the new one, but our HD DVR equipment does have the option of using an EHD to backup and store recordings.

If you are able to get the old receiver working temporarily, all you need to do is plug in an EHD and it will ask you to format. Once it is done, you can transfer recordings to the hard drive for additional storage space, and to back them up so they can be transferred to a replacement if it is needed. Let me know if you have any other questions.

SOURCE: Dish VIP 612 breaks up when playing back recorded shows.

Edy, I am not going to say that this is the definite issue but Dish only has receivers that are 1080i compatible at the time which will give you some blurring and possible pixellating. 1080p will resolve these issues in the future. Therefore if you still need help let me know.

SOURCE: Is it possible to have two remotes for the dish

Hello my name is Mike Houston of DISH Network customer service. There is a way to have two remotes on one TV, the first thing we need to push the menu button two times to get to the system info screen on the working remote. Then there will be a number in a white box at the button of the screen, we will want to remember that number so we can put it in for the second remote. Now once we are on the SYSTEM INFO screen we will want to get the remote we want programmed to that receiver, we will hold down the SAT button on the remote until all the buttons light up on the top of the remote. We will let go and then press the number that we wrote down and press the # button. Now both remotes will change the satellite channels.

Error code 024 on guide

Hi there! My name is Kimberly and I form part of the Social Media Department with DISH. It is my pleasure to help you. Please perform a hard reset on the receiver. To do a hard reset, you simply unplug the receiver from the power outlet it is connected to, leave it unplugged for 20 seconds, then plug it back in. The receiver reboot process takes about 5 minutes. Once the show is back on, try accessing your DVR again, if it is still not working, the receiver will need to be replaced. If this is still a problem, please feel free to email me at kimberly.escobar2dish.com with your account number so we can get this resolved.

My dish network reciever won't turn on it is a vip 612 dvr

Hi Cecil Threatt,

I do hope this has been resolved by now, but if not I would be happy to provide assistance. The receiver may need to be replaced if it's not powering on. To help verify where the problem is, make sure the receiver is plugged directly into the wall outlet. If it already is, then if possible try another outlet.

If the problem continues we can look into a replacement. You can send me an email at [email protected] and I can help you further!

Dish vip 922 shuts off

Hey Derek Barnes.

I would be happy to assist you further with this, I would just need more information to provide an accurate answer.

If the receiver is powering off on it's own, try bypassing any surge protectors or power strips and plug directly into an outlet. This will help provide ample power to the receiver.

If the receiver is shutting off after a few hours it could be related to "Inactivity Standby" which can changed from 'Menu' -> 'Settings' -> 'Updates'. You can disable it or increase the time for it to happen. It may also be shutting off during the Daily Updates which is found on the same screen.

If u can provide more information, let me know here. You can also reach me at [email protected] for further assistance pertaining to the account.

Sounds stop working after about 1 to 2 hours of viewing.

We would be happy to help you with this. The volume levelingfeature that we have sounds perfect for this situation; it keeps the volumelevels consistent between programming and commercials and also prevents drasticvolume level changes when switching between HD and SD programming. The volumeleveling feature is supported by the following receivers: ViP 222k, ViP 612,ViP 722k, and ViP 922; the model number of your receiver is displayed onthe front in the lower left corner. Your receiver needs to be connected by onof the following: composite cable (green, blue, red cables), coax cable (singlecable with metallic tip), HDMI or optical devices that do not support Dolbyaudio.

Start by pressing the menu button on your DISH Network remote control, thenpress the number 6 for system setup then 7 for audio output. Once therehighlight the "Enable" option below Volume Leveling and press select.Once enable exit the menu by selecting done on the right side of the screen.

We hope this helps to get things set up the way you like it. Thanks forchoosing DISH Network!
