*** The following is for information only.***
* Original question was slow ice making or melted ice;:
* Most common is ice build up in freezer coils. This happens every time the door is opened. Ice builds up on coils but is normally removed during a daily defrost cycle.
* The cycle may be unable to defrost all ice due to bad air circulation. Usually caused by rubbish blocking fan intake (bottom of freezer tray or wall.) Overloading food may cover the intake.
* Remove all food from freezer. Check for fan blockage. There should be a steady flow of cold air. If not then your freezer needs to be defrosted.
* Defrost by moving all frozen food to fridge side or cooler. Unplug fridge and open freezer door (drawer). Allow room air to circulate into the freezer. Use a house fan to blow air into freezer. (DO NOT use Hair dryer! It will damage panels.)
* Check and remove melted ice water. Check inner panels of freezer. Once defrosted the panels will be room temperature to the touch. There should not be any condensation or coldness to the panel. If it's still cold then keep defrosting.
* Once the water stops dripping. then close freezer doors.
* plug in freezer and wait 5 mins. Check freezer if inside is cold and the air is blowing cold. Reload freezer with food, take care not to overload or cover fan intake. Monitor for 2 days.
You will probably have to remove the back panel, which is the evaporator cover. The defrost water drain is always at the base of the coil. **** the drain out and pour some hot water down it
Turn the refrigerator off and let the freezer thaw completely. You may have frozen the water supply line so water cannot get into the ice maker. Also, the coils in the back of the freezer could be frozen, so you cannot get a cold enough temperature to freeze the water. You can confirm this by removing the back panel from the freezer (inside) and looking at the coils.
top freezer unit? coils could be frozen and passage to fridge blocked (that's how these work... cold flows down at rate determined by your fridge dial opening a little door). Empty the freezer and remove the rear panel. If you see lots of ice, your defrost element may be shot. Cheap online and fairly easy to replace.
Hi, Dounfd like the defrost drain in the freezer is plugged. Remove the rear panel inside the freezer and locate the drain hole under the evaporator coil.
Once all the ice has been removed, flush the drain with hot water. Some models require an after market drain heater kit. If you will get me a model #, Ican look this up for you.
Either your defrost timer, defrost heater or defrost thermostat has failed.
All parts are located behind the lower back panel inside the freezer.
Most likely are the defrost heater and defrost thermostat.
I turned the fridge side off on mine, and left it overnight (last night!). This morning there is frozen stuff in the freezer. I think the compressor motor just needed ALOT of time to cool down b4 it would work properly again
hi. thanks for the question .pull fridge away from the wall. remove back panel, clean all coils. look for leak. the tray is suppose to evaporate, from the heat from coils ,and compressor .so it has to evaporate .thanks the appliance doc
