We have an LG 42PC3D plasma TV that acts up. It will work fine for a couple of hours, then it shuts off. If you try to turn it on again, it does the little "click, click" noise, as if it's trying to turn on but doesn't turn on. Sometimes it'll repeat this cycle until you unplug it from the wall. If you leave it unplugged overnight, it'll work the next day for a couple of hours and then does it again. When it does it, the green power LED comes on, flashes a couple of times, and then goes back to red. It doesn't make any difference whether you try to turn it on at the power button on the set, or with the remote.
Sounds Like The Cooling Fan Is Going Out Put A Regular House Fan Behind It And See If It Stops Turning Off. Most Likely It Will Not Turn Off Anymore And You'll Need To Either Lube The Cooling Fan Or Replace It.
Hi, this is most lickly going to be a bad power board on the tv. how long have you had it?
yes, its the same as a power supply. here is a link that sells one.
http://cgi.ebay.com/LG-Power-Supply-6871...
also, here is a tech manual that will help ypu locate the power supply board on the back of the tv. and before you order a new part. check the capasitors(the smaller round caps) on the PSB. check the tops of the caps. they should be flat and slightly indented in. if they are poking out a little they are bad and that is a cheap fix.
here is the manual:

also. CRTN's comment about the cooling fans is a good idea and easy to check and make sure the fans are working and the tv is not getting to hot. good luck, i know it sucks, my tv went out too. i replaced the capistors on the pcb and that fixed that prob. but the lcd control board went out also and they dont sell that part. can only get the whole control box for $250. ha-- dont ever buy a polaroid tv.
yes, your going to have to take the back panel off to check the fans, i would set it on a unused bed so it wont damage the screen if you take the back off. you would have to take the back off and the fans are very visible. check that training manual for a pic and you should be able to locate them. if not let me know. plug the tv in and turn it on and wait if you see the the fans kick on. or you could try the fan trick to see if that keeps the tv cool and not turning off. but man, your wife has some luck winning that big of a tv. but its good to hear you didnt have to pay anything for it.

We've had it since December 2006.
We've had this tv since December 2006.
What is the power board, and where can I get one/how much does it cost?
Is it the same as the power supply?
Looks like I have a few things to check, so far.
It started acting up after we had it for almost 1 year. I would have gotten it fixed under warranty, but there's only 1 authorized warranty repair center anywhere near, and I can't take the TV to them. I lose more money taking time off from work to wait for a repairman to come out to fix it than it's worth. Plus, I don't exactly have a workbench in my house.
BTW, my wife won the tv in a drawing at a local retailer, so I don't have much money invested in it. Had I actually paid $1,800.00 for it, It would have been fixed under warranty.
Where are the cooling fans located, and do I need to remove the back panel to check them?
